DigiSchool Morocco: Driving National Education Transformation
Launched in February 2024, the Morocco DigiSchool project aims to empower students and teachers nationwide with digital skills and provide training in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and web and app development.
In a broader context, the project is aligned with national strategies such as the GENIE Program, which aims to integrate ICT into education, and the Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, which seeks to position the North African nation as a regional leader in digital transformation.

Digischool students and teachers - 3rd National Bootcamp in Agadir
Morocco DigiSchool offers both online and offline sessions for training teachers in new technologies and pedagogical tools, along with follow-up activities to monitor the implementation of these new teaching skills in classroom scenarios. This provides a framework for integrating ICT into teaching practices and driving education equity and inclusion to overcome unequal access to digital infrastructure in Morocco, especially in rural areas. The project also includes offline tools and mobile training hubs for overcoming infrastructure limitations, with regular monitoring and incentives like certifications and prizes to keep students and teachers motivated and engaged.
Students are encouraged to apply their newly learned skills in problem-solving activities during hackathons and tech fairs, with prizes awarded for the best solutions at national bootcamps and demo days.
The project’s success is ensured through the collaboration of various partners:
- Huawei TECH4ALL provides technology solutions.
- The Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports manages program implementation and national coordination, and the Regional Academics of Education and Training (AREF) organizes teacher training sessions and local logistics.
- The GENIE Department & Regional Labs for Digital Resources in the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports promotes awareness of the DigiSchool program.
- Educall designs and delivers training to target beneficiaries and manages follow-ups through e-learning resources.
The story so far
In 2024, the project was structured into four phases:
- Phase 1 provided training for 265 secondary school teachers in ICT skills across Morocco’s 12 regions in rural areas.
- Phase 2 conducted a follow-up with the teachers and 2,650 of their students, with a total of 71 meetings held to ensure effective execution.
- Phase 3 ran 12 regional hackathons that covered Morocco’s 12 regions between May and November, with 714 students tasked with developing ICT solutions to overcome set challenges.
- Phase 4 ran tech bootcamps in December in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir in collaboration with the respective regional academies of education. The final phase included refining projects developed during the regional hackathons and preparing teams for their final presentations. The bootcamps attracted 240 participants – 180 students and 60 teachers – resulting in 6 winning teams.
