Huawei’s Universal Distributed Storage (UDS) solution is set to revolutionize data storage. James Hughes, Chief Architect of Huawei Cloud Scale Storage, explains why.
UDS is designed for customers who need petabytes or hundreds of petabytes of information. The features of this storage system are scalability, reliability, and maximum storage with minimum cost. Huawei has significantly improved reliability, code compression, and most importantly, operational expenses (OPEX); the product can be managed by a small team of engineers. UDS integrates the concept of “fail & play,” where if a piece of equipment fails, instead of having an engineer come out and repairs it, it is simply turned off. This revolutionary concept really provides a significant value to our customers.
