Huawei Tech4City Competition 2024 Returns with SGD$20,000 Grand Prize for Winners
[Singapore, 26 March, 2024] Huawei is proud to announce the return of Tech4City Competition 2024, its flagship ideation competition event in Singapore. This competition aims at leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to empower young talents in shaping Singapore’s future through technological innovation for social good. The competition offers a platform for participants to transform their creative and innovative ideas into reality, with support and resources provided for prototype development.
Under the overarching themes of AI for Inclusivity and AI for Sustainability, Huawei Tech4City 2024 invites participants to explore innovative solutions that leverage AI to enhance digital literacy and contribute to the nation’s digital development.
From 26 March to 9 June 2024, individuals aged between 18 to 35 years old can register for the competition in teams of three to six members and stand a chance to win the Grand Prize of SGD$20,000 in cash. In addition, the top five teams will each receive SGD$2,000 funding and use it to build their prototype, allowing them to bring their ideas to life. Notably, to address real-world problems and specific issues, there will be an additional cash prize for the best innovation in mobility, sponsored by SBS Transit, and two other new awards “AI in Total Built Environment Adaptive Reuse and Rejuvenation”, “AI in illumination and immersive entertainment” sponsored by Swan & Maclaren Group.
More than just a competition, Huawei Tech4City presents an array of opportunities for young talents to cultivate their ideas and skills through networking sessions, tech skills-enhancement programmes, fast tracked into Huawei’s global programmes, and potential internship opportunities, aiming to bring technology for Care, Inclusion, Talent, and Youth. This initiative underscores Huawei’s commitment to nurturing talents in line with the Singapore National AI Strategy 2.0, thus contributing to the nation’s sustainable development agenda. Tech4City is in support of the national Digital for Life (DfL) movement, which mobilises partners from the People, Private, and Public sector to help Singaporeans embrace digital learning and leverage digital technologies to enhance their daily lives.

In order to cultivate a more vibrant ecosystem for young individuals and empower them to create social impact, the Tech4City community has expanded its network of partners from various entities, including:
- Government agencies: The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Health Promotion Board (HPB).
- Industry partners: SBS Transit, SG Enable, SGTech, Swan & Maclaren Group
- Knowledge partners: Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, NUS Enterprise, SMU College of Integrative Studies (CIS), and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
- Community partners: Action Community for Entrepreneurship, Business China Singapore, the Global Green Economic Foundation, and Mentoring SG
The first and second editions of the Huawei Tech4City Competition in 2022 and 2023, respectively, attracted more than 740 talented youths and inspired 180 ideation proposals. Winners received a combined total of $60,000 in cash prizes and were granted expedited entry into Huawei programmes.
Tech4City Competition 2024 Submission Criteria
- Participants must be between 18 to 35 years old.
- Submission should be made as a team comprising three to six individuals.
- Original proposal must include research insights, proposed solutions, technology implementation plans, and social value based on the theme.
- Proposals must be original and not previously submitted for other competitions.
- Participants must be available to attend the onsite final pitch in Singapore.
