HUAWEI CLOUD Simplifies Cybersecurity Certification for Singapore and Southeast Asia Enterprises

2024.10.16

HUAWEI CLOUD and Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) collaborate to strengthen cybersecurity and support Singapore’s vision of a resilient, digitally inclusive nation.

[SINGAPORE - October 16, 2024] HUAWEI CLOUD and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) jointly released the Security Companion Guide for CSA Cyber Trust Mark Certification at Govware 2024 during Singapore International Cyber Week. This guide simplifies cybersecurity requirements for enterprises in Singapore and Southeast Asia, providing clear guidelines for achieving Singapore’s Cyber Trust mark certification.

As enterprise’s cloud migration becomes the norm, the traditional IT security model is no longer sufficient to protect assets in the cloud. Many enterprises also lack an understanding of cloud security responsibilities and face challenges in assessing their cybersecurity needs due to varying levels of digitalisation and cloud migration strategies.

HUAWEI CLOUD, an Advocate Partner of CSA’s SG Cyber Safe Partnership Programme, continues to offer trusted solutions and cloud service resources that meet the Cyber Trust mark certification standards as cybersecurity threats become more sophisticated. In close relationship with CSA, HUAWEI CLOUD developed this guide.

The guide aims to help enterprises in Singapore and Southeast Asia implement good cyber hygiene practices through public-private collaboration to protect their businesses, data, and customers from increasingly complex cyber threats. It is based on the cloud security responsibility-sharing model, outlines the responsibilities needed to meet the Cyber Trust mark requirements, and provides organisations with advice on implementing necessary cybersecurity measures.

In addition, it maps HUAWEI CLOUD services and best practices to the Cyber Trust mark control domains, helping organisations meet compliance requirements. This mapping provides a useful and convenient reference for organisations, making it easier for them to implement the measures necessary to attain the Cyber Trust mark certification.

Maxi Wang, CEO of Huawei International, highlighted the transformative impact of the Cyber Trust mark certification, stating, “The Cyber Trust mark certification is a meaningful step for organisations across Singapore and Southeast Asia to prove their maturity in Cyber Security and cyber hygiene practices. In collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency (CSA), we are democratising cybersecurity, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can not only meet regulatory standards but also forge resilient operations that stand strong against evolving cyber threats.”

“Cybersecurity is a collective responsibility, requiring collaboration between governments and industries. Public-private partnerships are essential for encouraging businesses to improve their cybersecurity resilience.”

The Cyber Trust mark, part of the CSA’s Cyber Safe Certification Program, distinguishes organizations that address cybersecurity risks and maintain a high level of cybersecurity in their environments. It recognizes companies that adopt cybersecurity hygiene practices to protect against cyberattacks. The program also includes the Cyber Essentials mark, which identifies organizations that implement basic cybersecurity measures to protect against common threats.

For enterprises in Singapore and Southeast Asia seeking to meet the Cyber Trust mark requirements, a risk-based approach to assessing cybersecurity threats is critical. Organizations are expected to maintain continuous cybersecurity preparedness across 22 specific topics, ensuring they are equipped to respond to cyber threats. The Cyber Trust mark categorizes organizations into five levels of preparedness: Supporter, Practitioner, Promoter, Performer, and Advocate.

HUAWEI CLOUD’s Security Companion Guide for CSA Cyber Trust Mark Certification helps enterprises implement necessary cybersecurity measures for cloud adoption. It provides best practices and governance guidelines to meet the certification requirements.

The Cyber Trust mark certification, along with the CSA STAR and CSA CCM 4.0 certifications, aligns with ISO27001 standards. HUAWEI CLOUD’s Security Companion Guide is not only relevant to enterprises in Singapore but also internationally, serving as a valuable resource for cybersecurity and information security efforts across ASEAN member countries.

HUAWEI CLOUD also developed and released CSA Cyber Trust mark certification security solution to promote the Cyber Trust mark certification, and help its customers manage the information security risks by putting in good cybersecurity practices and measures based on the Cyber Trust mark standard.

“Cloud service provider like HUAWEI CLOUD hold the keys to a secure digital landscape by prioritizing responsible cybersecurity practices, not only to protect their infrastructure but also to empower their tenants to thrive safely in the cloud era. ” Dennis Chan, Chief Security & Privacy Officer at Huawei International said, “we believe this Huawei Cloud Security Companion Guide jointly developed with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore will guide our cloud tenants to adopt the right cybersecurity posture to secure their digital assets.”
