Huawei Switzerland has established scientifically sound near-term and long-term targets underpinning its ultimate net-zero targets and had them validated by the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi). This initiative is jointly sponsored by the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and supports companies in their commitment to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement and based on good science.

Huawei Switzerland, a leading technology supplier for telecommunications providers and enterprises, is proud to announce that its near-term, long-term and net-zero science-based targets for the entire company have been officially verified by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

This commitment, which aligns with the findings of climate science, represents a significant milestone in Huawei Switzerland’s contribution to the global effort to combat climate change.

Huawei Technologies Switzerland AG is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050.

In the near term to 2030, Huawei Switzerland has pledged to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 78.29% compared to the base year 2020, as well as to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, and the use of sold products 51.60% per CHF of value added within the same timeframe.

In the long term to 2050, Huawei Switzerland is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% compared to the base year 2020, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 97% per CHF of value added within the same timeframe.

To achieve these ambitious goals, Huawei Switzerland is implementing a range of strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, increasing the utilization of renewable energy source, and promoting greater sustainability across the product portfolio and supply chain. In particular, Huawei Switzerland is seeking to reduce energy consumption in data centers, develop more energy-efficient products, solutions and technologies, and work more closely with suppliers to encourage them to reduce their emissions.

Huawei Switzerland’s science-based targets are aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. These targets will ensure that the company’s efforts to reduce emissions are founded on the latest climate science and contribute effectively to a sustainable future.
