Investing in our Communities
Huawei Canada Amateur Sports Program – Supporting Employees and Local Youth Sports
Huawei Canada is proud of the contribution our employees are making in local communities. To support our employees and their families, the Huawei Canada Amateur Sports Program provides grants of up to $1000 for local sports teams. These sponsorships are used to buy equipment and uniforms, and to support out-of-town tournament expenses. Huawei Canada sponsors between 25- 35 teams annually - providing a minimum of $25,000 to community teams in Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
Promoting ICT Leadership with Aboriginal Youth and Canada’s First Nations
As part of our effort to deliver broadband
services to rural and remote communities, and to help foster stronger
educational links with engineering students in Canada, Huawei is investing in a
number of ICT initiatives and programs with First Nations communities.
For the past several years, Huawei Canada has been proud to sponsor “Science and Technology” Award for the annual SaskTel Aboriginal Youth Awards.
More information on the SaskTel Aboriginal Youth Awards can be found here.
Huawei Canada is also working with companies like SaskTel in their efforts to connect rural and remote communities. Over the past few years, Huawei has supported a number of initiative aimed at improving broadband and connectivity in remote and First Nations communities, including the Saskatchewan First Nations ICT Conference. These partnerships are done in support of longer-term objectives to ensure all Canadians have access to broadband. Our investments in rural broadband in Canada reflect our global objectives to bridge the digital divide in all countries where we operate.
