Huawei announces £100,000 Christmas donation to NSPCC’s Childline
- All ticket sales from Huawei’s London Winter Concert will also be donated to Childline
[London, United Kingdom, December 3rd, 2019] One of the UK’s leading children’s charities is to receive an early Christmas gift this week as a result of Huawei’s London Winter Concert.
Now in its 10th year, the annual concert will feature Russell Watson, Carly Paoli and Laura Watson performing with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at The Royal Festival Hall tonight (Tuesday). More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the concert.
To mark the occasion, Huawei will donate £100,000 to NSPCC’s Childline, plus all proceeds from ticket sales. These funds will go towards improving the service and recruiting more volunteers so they are able to help even more children in need of support and advice.
Victor Zhang, Vice-President of Huawei, said: “This is Huawei’s 10th Winter Concert in London. Such a great milestone shows our long-term commitment to the UK and particularly to our partners and customers.”
“We know Childline receives a call every 25 seconds from someone in need and because NSPCC is such a deserving cause, we will make this additional donation to the charity to support the important work they do.”
Mike McGrath, Head of Partnerships, NSPCC said: “Unfortunately Christmas isn’t always a happy time for every child, that’s why it is vital Childline is available day and night to ensure we can be there for every child who needs help. The generous donations from Huawei and their Winter Concert will enable us to be there for children who have nowhere else to turn, particularly as Childline is the only service open to children 24/7 during the festive period.
