PAHANG, DEC 9, 2021 – Media Prima Omnia Sdn Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) recently to strategically cooperate in playing a leading role in the digital transformation era in both Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region.

The partnership will see both parties pooling and leveraging their respective areas of expertise, strengths, experience and available resources for the purpose of carrying out joint programmes in achieving this purpose.

This MoC was signed by Media Prima Omnia Sdn Bhd Executive Chief Executive Officer Datuk Michael Chan and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Vice President Mr. Lim Chee Siong.

The collaboration will cover joint planning, developing, and implementing digital solutions for next generation digital platforms. The platforms will focus on two main areas, namely, digital education and precision advertising.

For digital education, both parties will jointly design and provide next generation education platforms for greater learning experience, whereas precise advertising will involve Huawei providing technical support to Media Prima Omnia. This will encompass areas such as AI, Big Data Analytics, intelligent computing and relevant solutions using Huawei 5G, Cloud & AI technologies to re-engage existing clients and attract new ones.

The joint programmes will also heavily utilise HUAWEI CLOUD as an infrastructure foundation to support Media Prima Omnia in transforming and supporting existing solutions digitally. The collaboration will look at playing a key role in accelerating digital adoption and developing solution ecosystems for digital industries.

Commenting on the collaboration, Datuk Michael said “Innovation is not just about introducing cutting-edge technology. It’s about a combination of respect, knowledge and expertise that can help solve issues that affect communities, societies and nations”.

Huawei Malaysia’s Mr. Lim reiterated that, “5G, Cloud & AI provides agility to Media & Entertainment sectors, it will help Media Prima monitor their OPEX & CAPEX costs, maintain backups as well as recovery, to ensure satisfactory end users’ experience.”

Mr Lim explained how Cloud technology is able to play a major role in significantly reducing storage costs and thus eliminating the need to move assets between locations. Cloud technology, he added, enables seamless internal and external workflows, complete with robust network security, data encryption and access management. In addition to that, Mr Lim described how databases and data analytics will improve through differentiated cloud-native applications in order for Media Prima Omnia to gain a competitive advantage over their competitors.

Touching on the collaboration, Mr Lim said that as a global technology leader, Huawei is well-positioned to provide technical assistance and guidance for Media Prima Omnia’s digital media transformation journey.

This collaboration will also see both parties exploring the generation of project pipelines and business objectives.
