JS Solar Press ReleaseJS Solar and Huawei Malaysia MoU signing ceremony at IGEM 2025 (L-R): JS Solar Vice President Business & Strategy Ahmad Fareez bin Abd Jamil and Managing Director Chai Jeun Sian; MGTC Board Members YBhg Dato’ Leong Kin Mun and YBrs Tuan Haji Ismail bin Mohd Amin; Huawei Malaysia Vice President of Digital Power Business Chong Chern Peng and Director of Smart PV and ESS Zhang Xiaoming.

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 OCTOBER 2025 – Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) and JS Solar Holding Berhad (JS Solar) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2025 to jointly advance smart solar and energy storage projects across Malaysia.

The collaboration will drive JS Solar’s upcoming renewable energy projects, with the aim of accelerating Malaysia’s carbon neutrality goals. JS Solar's projects include Large-Scale Solar (LSS) farms, Ground-Mounted Self-Consumption Solar (SELCO) farms, hybrid rooftop systems and the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).

“JS Solar is excited to strengthen our collaboration with Huawei Digital Power as we expand into East Malaysia. By combining Huawei’s advanced smart PV and energy storage technologies with JS Solar’s proven project delivery expertise, we aim to provide reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions that accelerate Malaysia’s clean energy transition. This partnership underscores our joint commitment to supporting the nation’s Net Zero aspirations,” said Chai Jeun Sian, Managing Director of JS Solar Holding Berhad.

“Huawei Digital Power is pleased to collaborate with JS Solar in advancing Malaysia’s renewable energy infrastructure. With our Smart PV and energy storage technologies, JS Solar will be able to optimise power generation, manage energy use more effectively, increase operational efficiency and ensure grid stability across diverse applications. We are putting in place a smarter energy ecosystem that delivers steady performance under challenging conditions,” said Chong Chern Peng, Vice President of Huawei Malaysia, Digital Power Business.

Under the partnership, JS Solar will serve as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner, while Huawei Malaysia will be the technology enabler, contributing its digital power expertise and innovative Smart PV solutions. Huawei Malaysia’s Solar Smart PV technology will be integrated into JS Solar’s projects, introducing intelligent inverters and digitally managed systems that optimise solar generation and strengthen grid reliability. The integration will also enable advanced monitoring and predictive maintenance to support long-term system performance and safety.

Huawei Malaysia and JS Solar will also jointly study, design and implement Solar + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies, exploring practical business models and scalable solutions to enhance renewable energy efficiency and grid resilience.

The partnership was formalised during IGEM 2025, which was held from 15 to 17 October 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre under the theme “Race Towards Net Zero: Inclusivity & Sustainability”. The MoU was signed by Chai Jeun Sian, Managing Director of JS Solar Holding Berhad and Chong Chern Peng, Vice President of Huawei Malaysia, Digital Power Business. The signing was witnessed by YBhg. Dato’ Leong Kin Mun, Malaysian Green Tech & Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) Board Member; YBrs. Tuan Haji Ismail bin Mohd Amin, MGTC Board Member; Ahmad Fareez bin Abd Jamil, Vice President of Business & Strategy, JS Solar Holding Berhad and Zhang Xiaoming, Director of Smart PV and ESS, Huawei Malaysia.

At IGEM 2025, Huawei Malaysia participated under the banner “Powering Malaysia Forward”, showcasing its full-scenario Smart PV solutions, regional success stories and its flagship Grid-Forming Energy Storage System (ESS). Designed for versatile deployment across utility, commercial and industrial (C&I) as well as residential scenarios, the ESS supports grid stability throughout the power value chain.

Huawei Malaysia Solutions Expert Damon Leong Wei Jie delivered two presentations during the event — “24 Years of Excellence: High-Quality and Utmost Safety in Serving Malaysia’s Energy Transition” on the first day, and “Debunking the Myth of String Inverters on Floating Solar Power Plants” on the second. In his sessions, he highlighted the importance of safety standards and addressed common misconceptions surrounding solar inverter technologies.

Since 2010, IGEM has been Southeast Asia’s leading green technology exhibition, supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). The annual event has generated over RM 58.1billion in business leads and attracted more than 650,000 visitors including delegates, dignitaries and companies from over 122 countries.
