Continued Enforcement of ICT Strategic Collaboration Between Huawei and Cameroon

[Yaoundé, Cameroon, October 16, 2020] Mr. Cao Jibin, President of Huawei Northern Africa, was received by Cameroonian Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute at Yaoundé, October 16th. Topics including technology against the pandemic, digital economy, talent training etc. were exchanged.

“Huawei has made significant contributions to Cameroon’s digital economy development and ICT industry. The Cameroonian government attaches great importance to the strategic collaboration with Huawei in the ICT domain and considers Huawei as an ICT strategic partner.” The Prime Minister addressed his speech by warmly welcoming the delegation’s visit during the pandemic.

President Cao Jibin paid his respects to the Cameroonian government on behalf of Huawei company and praised the Cameroonian government and people’s strength and braveness during the pandemic. “It is my fourth visit to Cameroon, right after the flights resumed. We encountered difficulties at work during this pandemic, however, all team members - both Chinese and local employees - remained at their position at work. Huawei continues to adopt its “in Cameroon, for Cameroon” concept and keeps contributing to Cameroon’s ICT and digital economy development.”

Huawei had overcome many challenges and successfully handed over multiple strategic projects during the pandemic. The group continues organizing activities for talents training. Since the signature of in 2018, Huawei has trained over 1000 ICT talents along with Cameroonian universities.

The Prime Minister agreed with Huawei’s “in Cameroon, for Cameroon” concept for local development and commented positively: “Many companies chose to leave Cameroon at the beginning of the pandemic. They have reached out wishing to be back to Cameroon when we manage to control the situation. However, Huawei stayed and finished its projects in time, and continued talent training. I would like to thank you on behalf of the President and our people for your outstanding contributions.”

During the discussion, President of Huawei Northern Africa Cao Jibin further expressed his support to Cameroon and further communicated Huawei’s future strategy and scope for local talents training. The Prime Minister of Cameroon considered the visit of this high-level Huawei delegation as a success.
