European Students Shine on the Global Stage
[Shenzhen, China, May 24, 2025] Today, the Closing and Awarding Ceremony of the Huawei ICT Competition 2024–2025 Global Finals took place in Shenzhen. Fifteen teams from Serbia, Poland, Italy, Spain, Türkiye and Germany competed for two days on the innovation and practice tracks at the Global Finals. Ultimately, European teams won 1 grand prize, 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 7 third prizes, the highest number of winning teams from Europe in the history of global finals.
This year’s competition reached a record scale in Europe, attracting more than 20 countries, more than 130 educational institutions, and more than 800 teachers and students, resulting in 15 teams to participating in the global finals. After an intense competition, European teams showcased outstanding technical skills and innovation: University of Kragujevac team in Serbia won the Grand Prize for Innovation Track. Poznan University of Technology won first prize for computing and cloud tracks. 5 teams, including Italy Universita' Politecnica delle Marche team, Türkiye TED University team and Spain University of Alicante team, won the second prize. 7 teams, including Germany DTI Academy team and Turkey GENC Academy team, won the third prize.
In addition, the competition features special honors such as "Women in Tech", "Green Development" and "MVI." The all-female team from Germany’s DTI Academy won the “Women in Tech” award.
The representative of the Serbia Grand Prize team delivered a speech: “We would like to express our gratitude for meeting all these wonderful instructors and students, who had amazing ideas, benefiting to the society. We should always feel responsibility to innovate and improving our society through that. Their innovative program is an AI-based healthcare intelligent dialysis solution that improves the safety, accuracy and efficiency of dialysis treatments.”

The competition received significant attention from the international community. Guests from many countries attended the event, interacting with teachers and students, as well as presented awards. Distinguished attendees included the Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Guangzhou, Deputy Director General of Turkey Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Consul General of Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou attended the competition. Kaan Baskurt, the Consul General of Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Guangzhou, Valerio De Parolis, Consul General of Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou presented awards onsite to Turkey and Italy's winning teams respectively.
In addition, the Most Valuable Instructor (MVI) Forum 2025 was held on May 21, bringing together nearly 200 outstanding teachers and industry experts from Huawei ICT Academies. They shared teaching cases and achievements of ICT Academies in different countries and explore the new mode of school-enterprise cooperation. Through global selection, four outstanding teachers in Europe were awarded the Grand Prize, First Prize and Second Prize in the Teaching Track in 2025. Among them, Dr. Merve YLDIRIM, a Grand Prize winner from the Erzurum University of Technology of Türkiye, presented her teaching achievements at the forum.

During the competition, the team also visited Huawei campus and exhibition hall. Teachers and students not only enjoyed the scenic environment, but also gained insights into Huawei's cutting-edge research and ICT innovations.

European Team Company Visit
As a flagship ICT competition for universities around the world, the Huawei ICT Competition has been growing steadily over the past decade since its inception and has continuously expanded its influence. In China, the competition has been included in the national college students’ competition list; Internationally, it is recognized as a flagship project by the UNESCO Global Skills Academy. To date, the competition has attracted more than 2,000 colleges and universities, and more than 960,000 teachers and students from more than 100 countries and regions.
This year marks the ninth edition of the ICT Competition global finals. In addition to the traditional competitions tracks, the competition also includes programming track, challenge track, and teachers competitions, further enriching the competition system.
