ABC Communications Launches Huawei TD-LTE Solution in BC

2014.04.08

First provider to deploy innovative TD-LTE technology in British Columbia,

delivering high speed internet, voice and video services

Vancouver, BC, April 8, 2014: BC-based telecom provider ABC Communications is pleased to announce a major expansion of its wireless broadband service in British Columbia. ABC has partnered with Huawei, a global leader in LTE (Long Term Evolution) broadband radio equipment, to deploy leading-edge TD-LTE fixed wireless service throughout its operating area.

ABC’s new network provides a wireless alternative to cable and ADSL for last mile broadband access. Using licensed 3.5 GHz spectrum, the expanded network gives coverage of up to 20 km of linear service range and provides speeds of up to 50 Mbps.

ABC is the first BC company – and one of the first companies in Canada – to deploy the most recent development in LTE, TD-LTE.  This technology is ideally suited to the delivery of Internet, Voice and Video services.

“ABC’s licenced spectrum is the key to our successful LTE deployment,” said Chris Allen, ABC’s President. “LTE is the leading wireless technology today and we are pleased to work with Huawei Canada to deliver this solution to rural, urban and enterprise customers throughout our market areas.”

“We are pleased to be partnering with ABC Communications with this TD-LTE deployment” said Sean Yang, President of Huawei Canada. “Over the past year, telecom operators have embraced this innovative technology to deliver wireless telecommunications equal or better to traditional wireline services. We’re proud to be bringing world-class technology to British Columbia.”
