Bigger is Better: Huawei launches Ascend Mate

Features a huge 6.1-inch screen, quad-core processor, and Huawei's own Emotion UI

Australia, 17 April 2013: Huawei Device today announced the launch of the Huawei Ascend Mate in Australia. Featuring a huge 6.1-inch HD display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor made by Huawei, a range of battery-efficiency technologies, and Huawei's own Emotion UI, the Huawei Ascend Mate is proof that bigger is better.

The Huawei Ascend Mate has a screen-to-body ratio of 73%, with a super-bright 1280x720 HD IPS+ LCD screen for unsurpassed clarity and colour accuracy. The smartphone also features Huawei's own 'Magic Touch' technology, providing enhanced touchscreen responsiveness even when you're wearing gloves. The Huawei Ascend Mate is slim and stylish, designed to fit comfortably in a single hand at just 6.5mm thin at its narrowest part.

"The Huawei Ascend Mate is big on features, big on battery life, and even bigger when it comes to screen size!" said Marketing Manager, Huawei Devices, Poh-Lee Koh. "The Ascend Mate offers the biggest multimedia experience on a smartphone, and follows Huawei's mantra of making the best technology accessible to more people."

The Huawei Ascend Mate features a giant 4050mAh battery and is powered by Huawei's own Hi-Silicon 1.5GHz quad-core processor, offering extensive battery life. With Huawei's QPC (Quick Power Control) and ADRX (Automated Discontinuous Reception) power-saving technology, the smartphone provides up to two days of ordinary usage on a single charge. It also features the fastest battery charging capability of smartphones in its range, which saves over 30% of battery charging time.

The Huawei Ascend Mate is Huawei's first smartphone in Australia to feature Huawei's own Emotion UI (user interface). The Emotion UI offers a range of features such as the 'Me Widget', which gives quick access to favourite contacts, photo galleries, weather, music, and more; profiles to adjust settings for different environments; and a range of other features including a simplified homescreen and additional themes.

Together with global roaming functionality, the Huawei Ascend Mate supports five 3G frequency bands plus four GSM bands, making it the perfect choice for international travellers. Its dual-antenna design supports high-power data transmission and is optimized to increase network reception by up to 2.5dB – providing an increase of 20 to 30% in network coverage overall.

The Huawei Ascend Mate also features an 8.0-megapixel auto-focus rear-facing camera with HDR and a 1.0-megapixel HD front-facing camera, along with dual-microphone noise-reduction technology, a Dolby® sound system and stereo recording. The smartphone features 'smart reading' functionality allowing quick reference to dictionaries, Wikipedia and Google Search pages, and Huawei's own 'swift sharing' technology to upload pictures, videos and other files two- to three-times faster than other smartphone users in a Wi-Fi environment.

Available in crystal black, the Huawei Ascend Mate will be on sale in Australia at Harvey Norman on April 20 with a RRP of $429 with a Bonus Boost $40 Prepaid Starter Kit.
