Huawei boosts New Zealand presence with new CEO

Auckland, 11 March, 2010: Huawei has boosted its competitive presence in New Zealand,announcing the appointment of Arthur Chao Zhang as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei’s New Zealand office. Mr Zhang will assume the role effective mmediately.

“Arthur brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in the region for more than nine years, and in Australia as the head of our Service & Delivery division for more than five years,” said Huawei Australia CEO, Guo Fulin.

The appointment marks an important milestone for Huawei’s business in New Zealand, which now includes more than 20 staff members working from the company’s Auckland office. Mr Fulin said the increased local presence was of critical importance as both the

Government and network operators looked towards the rollout of ultra-fast broadband and next-generation mobile services in New Zealand.

“With Arthur's reputation for outstanding people management skills, as well as his ability to meet significant business challenges, I’m confident he will bring a fresh and innovative leadership approach to a marketplace in need of greater competition,” said Mr Fulin.

Arthur joined Huawei in 1999, providing Wireless Product Technical Support from the company’s global headquarters in Shenzhen, China. Prior to joining Huawei Australia in 2005, Arthur managed projects delivering US$200 million per annum for Huawei Thailand as part of its Engineering Group.
