Sunway and Huawei Collaborate to Advance Digital Transformation
KUALA LUMPUR, 11 OCTOBER 2021 – Sunway Berhad (Sunway), through its wholly owned subsidiary Sunway Shared Services Sdn Bhd, and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei) sealed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore a collaboration to develop and advance the Sunway Digital Innovation Programme.
The MoU aims to explore the potential for Huawei to drive new digital service initiatives through the Sunway Digital Innovation Programme that advances the digital transformation throughout Sunway Group, one of Malaysia’s leading conglomerates with 13 business divisions, with its flagship smart sustainable township and living laboratory Sunway City Kuala Lumpur as the testbed for innovative solutions.
The proposed collaboration will see Sunway and Huawei explore developments in the areas of FinTech, Big Data, Machine Learning, Digital Growth Platforms, Go-To-Market Enablement as well as Cloud Infrastructure Modernisation, leveraging Huawei’s advanced technology, ecosystem, and digital innovation capabilities.
Sunway Shared Services manages all information technology (IT) support functions for Sunway business divisions and delivers value through the standardisation, consolidation and optimisation of IT resources within the Group.
The MoU was signed by Sunway Group Chief Information Officer Kevin Khoo and Huawei Malaysia Vice President of Cloud and AI Lim Chee Siong, witnessed by Sunway Group President Tan Sri Chew Chee Kin and Huawei Malaysia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Yuan.

Commenting on the partnership, Huawei Malaysia CEO Michael Yuan said that as a global technology leader, Huawei was well positioned to provide the technical assistance and guidance for Sunway Group to transform into a digital conglomerate.
