Huawei Launches New All-Flash Storage Products and Promotion along with AI-enabled Data Center Solutions in Kenya Enabling Companies’ Digitisation Efforts

2019.07.05

[March 29, 2019]at Huawei’s IT Day at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Huawei introduced a new flagship product for the enterprise market with a special promotion offer with flash storage (Solid State Drives) products for the same price as HDD (Hard Disk Drives) until June 30th*. At the event, Huawei introduced its latest AI-enabled Smart Modular Data Center Solutions, and Commvault announced the successful implementation of the Commvault data platform running on Huawei’s leading storage products at several of Kenya’s largest companies.

All-Flash Storage: Huawei recently ranked number 5 in the world for R&D investment by the European Commission’s science and knowledge service with $12 billion investment last year. This has led to major progress in data center storage products, especially in flash storage, which is up to 10 times faster than HDD, 3-5 times more reliable, and 70% more energy efficient.

OceanStor Dorado, the world’s fastest intelligent all-flash storage: These high-end storage products are tailored for the enterprise market. They boost the world’s fastest performance (7,000,565 SPC-1™ IOPS) and high reliability (99.9999% and 0.5ms stable latency) and can lower operating costs by up to 75%. This has been achieved through intelligent chips, intelligent CPU partitioning, the Industry's first storage that supports NVMe architecture for mid-range and high-end models, and intelligent FLASHLINK© amongst other innovations. To date, OceanStor Dorado has achieved large-scale commercial use in seven of the world's top 20 banks.

AI-enabled Data Center Solutions: At the event, Huawei introduced its latest Smart Modular Data Center Solutions that incorporate world-class storage, cooling, power and management systems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used to improve power management with proactive fault prevention and automatic fault isolation; improve cooling with energy efficiency optimization, automatic detection of refrigerant leakage, and precise temperature control; and improve data center management with automatic asset management and SPC intelligent management.

In Kenya, the solution is already being used by Kenya Urban Roads Authority for its Transport Management Center, and the National Aids Control Council. The Solution is customized for indoor or outdoor uses and for different sizes. The ability to take a prefabricated modular and integrated solution provides flexibility for customers as well as fast and easy delivery and assembly. Huawei’s Data Center Products feature:

  • Simple maintenance, improving efficiency up to 30% compared to competitors;
  • Intelligent AI-enabled energy saving cooling technologies reducing Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) by 8%;
  • High reliability with capability to withstand temperatures from -40℃ to +55℃ operating range, Waterproof and dustproof to IP55 or IP65, and 90-minute UL fire resistance test;
  • Anti-corrosion: 1,440-minute UL salt spray test, equivalent to 40 years of service life;
  • Reliable Operations with real-time monitoring of temperature and power, along with passive warnings for proactive prevention.

Commvault Data Platform: Huawei partners with globally leading software companies and integrates them with Huawei’s best-in-class hardware products. Today, Huawei and Commvault presented on their partnership and its success in Kenya. The Commvault data platform runs on Huawei storage products and integrates with Huawei FusionCompute and FusionSphere.
