Huawei staff, including Huawei UK CEO, joined thousands of runners who took part in Sunday’s SAGE Reading Half Marathon.

Since moving its UK headquarters to Reading in 2013, each year 30 Huawei employees have taken on the half marathon challenge.  The 13.1 miles (21km) race started at Green Park, close to Huawei’s UK headquarters, with over 14,000 people taking part this year.

Huawei UK CEO Jerry Wang who himself competed the marathon in 2hrs 15 minutes said “Competing in The Reading Half Marathon has become an annual tradition at Huawei. It’s certainly one of the more standout events in our internal team calendar, we’ve had an excellent time competing again this year”.

“We have been in Reading since 2013, it’s our home.  The office space has allowed us to grow our employee base in the UK exponentially, we have over 650 people based here, we are fully focused on our long-term commitment to the UK”.

Huawei moved to its Green Park offices in Reading in 2013 having previously been based in Hampshire. Reading was the best location for Huawei’s UK base due to its excellent transport links and proximity to many of Huawei’s UK customers.
