Huawei Highlights Its Focus on Creating a Cloud Ecosystem at Huawei Cloud Congress 2015

[Shanghai, China, September 18, 2015] The 5th Huawei Cloud Congress (HCC 2015) opened in Shanghai today. With the theme of Make IT Simple, Make Business Agile, the congress will focus on the idea of Transforming with Cloud, Setting New Benchmark. At the event, Huawei unveiled its latest cloud computing products and solutions. The event attracted more than 10,000 attendees from over 80 countries, including industry experts, opinion leaders, and Huawei partners. Attendees discussed the latest industry trends and explored transformation opportunities and challenges in the cloud era.

"We will focus on IT infrastructure, software platforms, and enterprise cloud services when creating a cloud ecosystem," said Eric Xu, Huawei's Rotating CEO, when introducing Huawei's cloud ecosystem strategy. "We will create a cloud ecosystem with business cooperation at its core and technical partnership and talent development as its foundation. This ecosystem will enable our partners to jointly expand the industry size and achieve mutual success."

Eric Xu continued, "In the coming years, Huawei will develop a leading cloud operating system (OS), Big Data platform, and PaaS platform by combining our technical strengths with those of our partners. Together, we will create an open and dynamic cloud ecosystem."

William Xu, Huawei's Chief Strategy Marketing Officer, said, "We will adhere to our Being Focused and Being Integrated strategies. Alongside our partners, we will create an open cloud ecosystem to achieve co-existence. In addition, we will make box products more agile and platforms more open."

He emphasized, "We will not work on applications on the upper layers. Neither will we touch data on the lower layers."

Amid the ongoing wave of global digital transformation, the role of IT systems is shifting from support to production. As cloud computing technology matures, enterprises are moving their IT systems to the cloud. Like Internet companies, traditional industries are rushing to embrace cloud computing and deliver cloud services via industry clouds. Cloud computing offers a core competitive edge to companies seeking to meet diverse customer needs.

Yan Lida, President of Huawei's Enterprise Business Group, remarked, "Facing a wave of digital transformation, traditional industries need customized cloud services that combine industry-specific applications and ICT infrastructure. That's where industry clouds come into play."

Yan continued, "As a leading global ICT infrastructure provider, Huawei has adhered to its strategy of Business-driven ICT Infrastructure (BDII) to innovate and collaborate openly with industry partners and customers. We have gained valuable practices in industries such as the government, public facilities, finance, telecom, and media & entertainment (M&E). We aim to accelerate the adoption of industry clouds, helping customers significantly increase efficiency and rapidly innovate services."

In cooperation with industry partners, Huawei also demonstrated its progress in creating a cloud ecosystem to set new benchmarks for business cooperation in the cloud era. HCC 2015 also featured co-exhibitions between Huawei and companies such as Deutsche Telekom, China Telecom Zhejiang Branch, and Shenzhen Jiaying Information.

As a leading global ICT solutions provider, Huawei unveiled three key software platforms at the HCC, including FusionSphere, FusionInsight, and FusionStage. Tailor-made for enterprises and operators, FusionSphere 6.0 embraces open source at the component, architecture, and ecosystem levels. With fully open software, this software platform is flexible enough to meet the needs of different customers. At present, it is used by more than 1,000 customers across over 80 countries and regions, including those in the government, public facility, finance, telecom, energy, transportation, M&E, and manufacturing sectors. Thanks to FusionSphere, these customers have been better able to transform their IT systems, and thus achieve business transformation and success.

At the congress, Huawei also announced its future-oriented data service platform, OceanStor DJ. Based on unified storage resource management and data management software, OceanStor DJ provides data storage and management services on demand to boost data centers' operating efficiency.
