Huawei Switzerland EHS Policy
Purpose
This policy is intended to describe the top management position that all Huawei operations in Switzerland will comply with Switzerland's legal obligations and with Huawei policies concerning the effective management of EHS risks and commitment to provide a healthy and safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors and protect the environment.
Applicability
This policy statement relates to all Huawei operations across Switzerland.
Policy
Huawei is a global leader of ICT solutions. Our telecom network equipment, IT products and solutions, and smart devices are used in 170 countries and regions. As a global leader in ICT, we are fully aware of our mission and responsibilities.
We have embedded environmental protection, efficient energy use management, and occupational health and safety (collectively referred to as EHS) within and across our operations and supply chain, and we are fully committed to faithfully fulfilling all legal obligations and customer commitments toward EHS governance.
While providing excellent quality and services for customers, Huawei Switzerland attaches full importance to effective EHS management through full compliance to all legislations relevant to our operations, including the Occupational Health and Safety, environmental and energy efficiency-related legislation.
Since 2011 we have completed the certifications of EHS management system and we are committed to its maintenance in accordance with the standards EN ISO 45001: 2018, and EN ISO 14001: 2015.
The certification process helps us formalize and standardize our management of occupational health, and employee rights across our operations and project deployments, thereby our commitment to putting safety first, protecting the environment, energy efficiency improvement, and caring for employees.
Through active management sponsorship, appropriate resources have been established to implement and maintain optimal Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management and their related plans, objectives, and processes. We have defined responsibilities and accountabilities, identified assessed and controlled risks, and provided information and training to ensure that we meet our performance objectives and satisfy our legal obligations.
As the Chief Executive, I and the Senior Team (ST) shall monitor and review performance and progress against objectives and policy requirements. To ensure continual improvement, our commitment to the applicable management systems (EHS) is embodied in the following:
- Adoption and deployment of the company EHS policies and management plans to ensure their continuing applicability, completeness, and effectiveness:
- To build and maintain a healthy and safe work environment that contributes to the well-being of the employees by constantly improving areas of safety at work to minimize labor accident rate; health surveillance; ergonomic and psychosocial.
- To prevent pollution, minimize the generation of waste, especially those derived from electrical and electronic equipment, make responsible use of energy resources as well as minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
- Specifically appointing EHS management resources and assigning responsibilities to oversee the tactical and strategic workings of the management systems and achieving the associated objectives and KPIs, exerting influence on whole value chain including suppliers, subcontractors and cannel partners, to ensure delivery staff and subcontractors continue to work with appropriate EHS controls and report on performance.
- Defining energy efficiency requirements for product and services acquisition, office building facilities renovation and company car fleet renewal.
- Establishing effective systems of communication and information for the implementation of our policies, procedures and legal obligations for internal and external stakeholders. This includes provision of training and awareness programs and platforms, customer engagements, liaison with regulatory organizations and external EHS committees and the appointment of EHS internal-specific committees where appropriate.
