Huawei’s "Sky Seeds for the Future" 4th batch to be held online for Myanmar Students to learn about cutting-edge ICT technology
[Yangon, Myanmar, 21 September, 2020] – Seeds for the Future, an annual initiative by Huawei organized in support of the development of Myanmar’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry talent, returns this year as a fourth batch, named as “Sky Seeds for the Future”, of 38 outstanding local students were selected from computer and technological universities across Myanmar to embark on a 5-day educational program from 21st to 25th September. This year’s program will be conducted online due to current health and safety concerns.
Coordinated in partnership with Myanmar’s Ministry of Education, the National Education Policy Commission and Rectors’ Committee, the start of the program was marked on 21st September with an online opening ceremony through WeLink. Opening speeches were delivered by Mr. Ding Zhaoyi, Huawei Myanmar CEO, Dr. Myo Kywe, Chairman of National Education Policy Commission, Mr. Pan Feng, Cultural Counsellor of Embassy of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Chairman of Rectors’ Committee, and Mr.Fu Bo, Director of Public Affairs and Communications Huawei Asia Pacific Region, followed by a thank you speech by the 2020 Sky Seeds for the Future Students' Representative.
In 2020, Huawei will offer a 5-day online program including 6.5 hours of compulsory courses, 6.5 hours of live streamed sessions and 1 hour of elective course with free access to additional resources for self-learning about Chinese culture. The selected students will study cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, AI, cloud computing to better equip them with ICT knowledge, crucial for their future career advancements. An awards ceremony for students will be held on 28th September, after the conclusion of the program.
Seeds for the Future, a global flagship CSR program of Huawei, aims to foster local ICT talents, enhance knowledge transfer, promote a better understanding and interest in ICT sector, and improve and encourage regional building and participation in the digital community. Introduced in 2017, Huawei’s “Seeds for the Future” has since enrolled 68 Myanmar students including this batch, which in total has included more than 5770 4,700 students from over 500400 universities worldwide. The students are given the amazing opportunity of internship at Huawei Myanmar and to immerse themselves in different a culture whilst studying the most innovative technology solutions from directly from Huawei, a leading global ICT provider.

He added “For now, you maybe the seeds, but I believe that one day you will be contributing your capacity, hard work, knowledge and experience back to the country as in the shape of the trees.
