Slovakia ranks 32nd in GCI 2019.
Slovakia has affordable broadband for both fixed and mobile users. FTTH and 4G investment has been
growing and smartphone penetration and mobile broadband subscription indicators hit the full score
for the year. The popularity of secured servers and cloud migration has grown, and users of
e-government and IoT analytics services report improved user experiences.
Slovak companies are now moving into cloud computing because cloud is essential to surviving in the
digital economy. The sooner companies embrace innovative solutions, the sooner they can benefit from
them. While interest in cloud computing is growing, many companies in Slovakia are still reluctant
to give up possession of their data, which has made the migration to cloud solutions a bit slower.
In general, Slovak companies are conservative and cautious when adopting new technologies. Cloud
computing is most frequently used by small, flexible enterprises in manufacturing. Slovakia should
encourage more organizations to be aware of the benefits of cloud services and provide them with
access.
