Challenges

According to one report on the global mobile broadband (MBB) usage, more than 350 High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) networks had been deployed worldwide by the end of 2010. More than 95% of the subscribers on these HSPA networks have used high-speed mobile data services. Network evolution is greatly improving MBB user experience and this is attracting more and more MBB subscribers. Statistics from Informa reveal that there were some 574 million MBB subscribers in 2009 and that there will be an estimated 3.47 billion MBB subscribers by 2015. The percentage of MBB subscribers among all mobile subscribers will increase from 12.3% to an estimated 51.6% during the same period. At the beginning of 2010, mobile data traffic worldwide exceeded mobile voice traffic for the first time.

The rapid development of MBB networks has created a number of challenges. A number of factors stand in the way of MBB network deployments:

  • Huge data volume;
  • Impact of smartphones;
  • Low broadband resource usage;
  • Poor user experience.

Our Solution

Operators need to construct more flexible and smarter networks on a large scale to overcome such challenges. SingleEPC solution provides a series of smart solutions to help operators evolve their networks from traditional to smart MBB networks.

Smart Network Visualization

  • NetView solution examines networks and network activities from a variety of perspectives. NetView can, for example, provide a detailed analysis of subscribers' online behavior and rank top Web sites, servers, and applications based on the traffic and number of visits. Such data helps operators better operate and maintain IP networks, and locate and rectify faults quickly.

Smart Bandwidth Management

  • Smart bandwidth management solution provides flexible bandwidth control policies and rules. It is based on policy and charging control (PCC) architecture. This solution offers 12 bandwidth management scenarios based on policies set for usage, subscribers, quotas, terminals, locations, or time. Scenarios include the FUP and VIP solutions, and cover management of low-value services and traffic management. Operators can improve the network usage and offer subscribers better user experience.

Smartphone Optimization

  • Smartphone optimization solution helps operators overcome challenges caused by the smartphone usage. The special behavior of smartphones, such as fast dormancy and real-time heartbeat, lead to increased signaling loads. This solution addresses the problems that result and helps MBB subscribers have better user experience.

Smart Content Delivery

  • Smart content delivery solution uses the Gi interface to cache data locally. This reduces the time needed to open Web pages and reduces the amount of bandwidth required for accessing the backbone network. This core solution helps operators provide better network access to attract more subscribers and improve customer loyalty.

Applications & Benefits

SingleEPC solution provides a series of MBB solutions and helps operators construct smart and convergence broadband networks. SmartCare solution functions as an eye and provides visibilities into the networks. The PCC architecture of the Smart Bandwidth Management solution functions as a brain and helps make policies flexibly. A series of smart solutions function as a body and help execute the policies. SingleEPC aims at providing a complete and comprehensive end-to-end solution that is highly efficient for you.
