Huawei eSpace U1900 switch series provides professional IP voice solutions to meet communications requirements from various enterprises of different sizes. Huawei eSpace U1900 series includes eSpace U1910, U1911, U1930, U1960, U1980, and U1981.

A vulnerability exists in a module of U1900 series. This module does not initialize requested memory areas when processing specific timeout messages, which leads to out-of-bounds memory access that results in system restart. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2015-08035)

An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to restart the device, which leads to DoS attacks.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv2 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/).

1. Prerequisite:

The attacker can access the device network.

2. Attacking procedure:

The attacker accesses the network that the U1900 series resides, and the U1900 series is triggered to generate and process specific timeout messages. As a module of U1900 series does not initialize requested memory areas when processing the messages, which leads to out-of-bounds memory access that results in system restart.
