Security Advisory - Memory Leak Vulnerability in Some Huawei Products

  • SA No:huawei-sa-20171201-01-router
  • Initial Release Date: 2017-12-01
  • Last Release Date: 2017-12-13

Some Huawei products have a memory leak vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker may send specific Resource ReServation Protocol (RSVP) packets to the affected products. Due to not release the memory to handle the packets, successful exploit will result in memory leak of the affected products and lead to a DoS condition. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2017-02032)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2017-15349.

Huawei has released software updates to fix this vulnerability. This advisory is available at the following link:

Successful exploit will result in memory leak of the affected products.

The vulnerability classification has been performed by using the CVSSv3 scoring system (http://www.first.org/cvss/specification-document).

Base Score: 7.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H)

Temporal Score: 7.0 (E:F/RL:O/RC:C)

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

1. The attacker gains access to the device network.

2. MPLS, MPLS TE or RSVP is configured in the affected device.

Vulnerability details:

An unauthenticated attacker may send specific RSVP packets to the affected products. Due to not release the memory to handle the packets, successful exploit will result in memory leak of the affected products and lead to a DoS condition.
