Huawei Receives Dutch Government Award

[Guangzhou, China, April 12, 2018] Huawei has received an award from the Dutch government honoring the company’s contribution to Sino-Dutch cooperation and for being one of the biggest Chinese investors in the Netherlands. Huawei was one of five Chinese companies to receive awards from the Netherlands’ Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, at a ceremony in the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Guangzhou. The ceremony was part of a Dutch trade mission visit to China celebrating the NFIA’s 40th anniversary. During that time, the NFIA has helped over 4,000 companies establish or expand businesses in the Netherlands. Huawei Netherlands CEO Steven Cai received the award from Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and NFIA Commissioner Jeroen Nijland.

Jeroen Nijland, the NFIA Commissioner, said: “This year, I am proud to say, is a momentous year for the NFIA as we celebrate 40 years of operations. As a token of appreciation for Huawei being part of that 40-year history, thriving in the Dutch business climate and steadily contributing to our economy, I am very happy to present this award to Huawei Netherlands.”

Steven Cai, CEO of Huawei Netherlands, said: “We are honored to receive this award from the Dutch Government. It is a huge compliment as well as recognition of our work in the Netherlands. We have had a presence in the Netherlands since 2004, and during that time the NFIA has been very supportive in helping Huawei grow and invest in the country. The Netherlands is a very important country for Huawei and we are committed to the Dutch market, both today and in the future.”
