Huawei Marine Deploys Subsea Cable System on Eastern Seaboard of Peninsula Malaysia

250km undersea fiber optic links Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia

[Tianjin, China, Sep. 9, 2016] Huawei Marine Networks Co., Limited (Huawei Marine) today announced it has been selected by Super Sea Cable Networks Pte Ltd to deploy SEAX-1, a Subsea Cable System connecting the Eastern seaboard of Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Known as SEA Cable Exchange-1 (SeaX-1), the system comprises a 250km high-speed, large capacity, 24-fibre pair undersea fiber optic cable that will connect Mersing (Malaysia), Changi (Singapore), and Batam (Indonesia). 

Once commissioned, the system will be fully owned and operated by Super Sea Cable Networks Pte. Ltd. and will serve operators in the region to meet increasing bandwidth demand. The system will be targeted to complete by the end of 2017.

Super Sea Cable Networks Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore based company with a Facilities-Based Operator (FBO) license in Singapore, and is supported by SACOFA Sdn. Bhd., a leading telecommunication infrastructure provider in Sarawak, East Malaysia, to do the landing in Malaysia, and its affiliate company, PT. Super Sistem Ultima, a leading telecommunication infrastructure provider in Indonesia, to do the landing in Indonesia.
