Message from the Rotating and Acting CEO in 2015 Annual Report

Ideals are not enough. We also need new theory. Ideals give us a vision, and theory gives us the means to achieve it. Over the next 10 to 20 years, we must boldly explore new technological concepts, mathematical models, and algorithms, and in doing so provide society with new theoretical approaches in these areas. In the future, networks will be standardized, simplified, and easy to use. We must broaden our horizons, have a global view, and work together to create value. We must build networks on globally unified standards. And we need to make our contribution to the concepts, theory, and architecture of future data transmission.

It will be a long time before 5G is deployed on a large scale, and industry players must ensure they do not miss out on opportunities. Three things should be done before 5G arrives: increase connectivity, enable verticals, and redefine network capabilities. These initiatives will help address the uncertainties brought about by new technologies and new business models.

The New Year has arrived. For the next 5–10 years, we embark on a transformation that will enable those in the front lines to call for support more effectively. This is our strategy of building a massive platform to support our elite forces, and of separating centralized administration from front-line command.
