Huawei launches FutureWei at SUPERCOMM 2002 Optimism in US market, seeking partners to grow

(Shenzhen, China,4 June 2002) - Huawei Technologies, a leading global supplier of network equipment and solutions, announced today the launch of FutureWei, its wholly owned US subsidiary. The establishment of FutureWei underscores the company's commitment to international business development and long term investment in the North American market.

'The launch of FutureWei marks the early beginnings of Huawei's expansion into the lucrative North American market. As we compete alongside the top players in the international arena, this will take us to the next level of becoming a truly global player,' said William Xu, Executive Vice President of Huawei Technologies, at Huawei's first exhibition at SUPERCOMM 2002.

Huawei has been dubbed 'China's Cisco' by the Wall Street Journal and Forbes global edition. The launch of FutureWei follows the parent company's success on the domestic front. In 2001, Huawei announced an annual sales revenue of US$3.1 billion, of which 11% was derived from international sales.

Headquartered in Plano, Texas, FutureWei is a total network solutions provider, specializing in the research and development, design, and marketing of a wide range of advanced carrier and enterprise class telecommunications products. These include metro optical networking, broadband access, LAN switches, access servers/VoIP gateways and video conferencing systems. In addition, FutureWei has regional centers spanning the North American continent in San Jose, California, and Reston, Virginia, to cater to the needs of an ever-expanding customer base.

FutureWei will navigate the North American market through various strategies, including channel marketing, direct sales networks, and OEM and ODM relations. By keeping base at the three strategic points, FutureWei is empowered to launch its high-performance, cost effective solutions faster to meet the demands of the American markets.

Mr. Johnson Chang, executive vice president of FutureWei, said, 'Through the participation in SUPERCOMM 2002, we wish to meet with the leading distributors from the US and other part of the North American market. We are confident that with our faster service, better solutions and bigger savings, we will be able to grow along with our partners in North American market.'
