Huawei to open new €150 million European cloud services hub in Ireland creating 200 jobs

18 October 2022: Huawei today announced a €150 million investment and the creation of 200 new jobs as it plans to open its first European cloud hub in Dublin. The announcement was made at the Huawei Connect event in Paris, France. The hub will create 60 jobs in the next 2 years and 200 by 2027, including sales, pre-sales, legal, tax, operational, management and research positions.

The new European hub will serve customers across the continent and help ambitious Irish enterprises to expand into new global markets, by providing a secure, compliant, innovative, and sustainable cloud platform for growth and development. Supported by Huawei’s industry-leading technology, investment in R&D, and open digital ecosystem, Huawei Cloud will offer a suite of cutting-edge cloud services across Europe, using Ireland as the platform. 

The investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Speaking about the positioning and business development goals of Huawei Cloud in Ireland, Tony Yangxu, CEO of Huawei Ireland, said: “I am honoured to announce the arrival of Huawei Cloud to Ireland.  We see Ireland as a strategically important location for the global deployment of Huawei Cloud. It offers innovative Irish and European enterprises the opportunity to access new markets and potentially reach global customers. Huawei Cloud will align with existing Huawei functions in Ireland, supporting SME and start-up digitalization in partnership with industry partners and state agencies including IDA Ireland. It will offer customers resources such as cloud credits, technical support and access to international venture-capital networks to help speed up digitalisation and support expansion into global and Asian markets, also facilitating Asian and Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Ireland.

Through its data centre partners who use existing grid connections, the new €150 million investment will enable Huawei Cloud to strengthen its investment in R&D, marketing, the SME and start-up ecosystem, and greener infrastructure in the region.


The annoucement is also endorsed by Ireland government and IDA Ireland.
