2018.05.31

[Sydney, Australia, May 31, 2018] Huawei's 5G customer premise equipment (CPE) won the prestigious Best Mobile Device award at the 2018 Edison Awards last night in Sydney.

Accepting the award, Huawei Australia CEO George Huang said the 5G CPE was the world’s first commercial 5G terminal device and the award reinforced Huawei’s global leadership in the development of 5G technology.

"Australian’s are benefitting from Huawei’s global R&D and innovation. Huawei is already making a significant contribution to Australia and 5G promises to provide further opportunities and efficiencies for the local economy,” Mr Huang said

The 5G CPE supports 5G across all frequency bands including sub-6GHz and millimeter wave (mmWave) to offer a complete 5G solution.

Huawei is cooperating with industry partners and global standards bodies to develop 5G and nurture a 5G industry ecosystem. Huawei also cooperates with cross-industry organizations such as 5G Slicing Association (5GSA), 5G Automotive Association (5GAA), 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) to create and mature the ecosystem

“Huawei remains committed to open innovation and cooperation, creating greater value for our customers, advancing the ICT industry, and ultimately contributing to the building of a better connected Australia,” Mr Huang said.

Huawei allocated $USD13.2bn on R&D in 2017 and in 2018 expects to invest $800 million in 5G development and launch a full range of commercial 5G equipment, including wireless access networks and devices.
