Huawei Speaks at Parliament on Twin Transitions for EU Green Week 2022

2022.06.02

[Brussels, Belgium, June 2, 2022] Huawei and the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) held a joint forum on May 31 for the EU Green Week 2022 to discuss how industry and policymakers can work together to scale up the "twin transitions" of green and digital innovation. These transitions are a key part of the EU's Green Deal and Digital Decade goals and will drive the EU's shift towards a zero-carbon economy. The morning session of the event was held within the European Parliament and was conducted by a panel of experts, including MEP Cyrus Engerer and MEP Iban Garcia del Blanco as well as Huawei’s Chief Representative to the EU Institutions Tony Jin Yong.

"At Huawei, we walk the talk. We strive to support the ambitions of the European Green Deal and use tech for a better planet. We work on four main key areas: reducing carbon emissions of existing and growing digital infrastructure, promoting renewable energy with innovation for higher efficiency, contributing to a circular economy, and conserving nature with technology," underlined Jin.

These four key areas are also featured in Huawei's new European Green Paper, which was also published on the same day. The afternoon session of the event was held in the Solvay Library in Brussels, where Dr. Cao Hui, Huawei EU's Head of Policy and Strategy, underlined the responsibility ICT companies have in supporting the European Green Deal.
