Huawei Recognised as Digital for Life Champion by Singapore’s IMDA for the Second Time Since 2024

[Singapore, 17 Jul 2026] – Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, has been recognised for the second time as one of the Champion Partners by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) for its significant contributions to Singapore's national Digital for Life (DfL) movement. This accolade was first awarded to Huawei in 2024, and now again at today’s DfL Partners’ Appreciation event.
Securing this honour for the second time underscores Huawei's sustained commitment and the impactful results of its Singapore-oriented Tech4CITY initiatives, which are deeply aligned with the DfL movement to help Singaporeans embrace digital and enrich their lives. In the past two years, the Tech4CITY programme has impacted more than 10,000 beneficiaries through over 60 activities, with the involvement of more than 100 Huawei staff volunteers.
Maxi Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei International, shared, "We are immensely proud to be recognised once again by IMDA. This second Champion Award is a powerful testament to the dedication of our team and the success of our Tech4CITY programme in supporting Singapore's digital journey. Reaching over 10,000 beneficiaries through more than 60 activities fuels our commitment to continue leveraging technology for care, inclusion, talent, and youth—building a more resilient and forward-thinking nation together."
Tech4CITY programme: A Catalyst for Social Innovation
Huawei's Tech4CITY is a comprehensive programme designed to bring technology for Care, Inclusion, Talent, and Youth (CITY). Beyond community projects, Huawei also nurtures future talent through partnerships with local academies, lab visits, and learning journeys focused on AI and Cloud technologies.
Fostering Stronger Communities with Technology
As a committed DfL partner, Huawei has been actively involved in past DfL Festivals and various community events over the years.
By leveraging its extensive ecosystem, Huawei engages partners and Tech4CITY alumni to jointly advance our mission of building a digitally inclusive society.
In 2024, Huawei partnered with Robocore Technology, a start-up under the Huawei Cloud Start-up programme, and allowed visitors to experience hands-on control of the robot, boosting their enthusiasm and confidence in adopting AI devices.
Powered by Huawei Cloud, the AI Magic Mirror is an interactive photo experience that allows the attendees at IMDA’s DfL Festival 2025 to use generative AI to place themselves in Singapore’s iconic landmarks and experiences.
Nurturing Future Innovators through the Tech4City Competition
Now in its fifth edition, the Tech4City Competition 2026 runs under the theme "Fueled by AI, Powered for Public Good", challenging participants aged 16–35 to build AI-driven solutions across four pillars: Transportation, Education, Community, and Health. Teams can also tackle online safety challenges through problem statements set by IMDA, based on the four key actions for practising healthy digital habits: (i) Set Boundaries Online, (ii) Think Before You Act, (iii) Report Inappropriate Content, and (iv) Engage & Support. These statements task youth participants to develop solutions that enable Singaporeans to navigate the online space safely.
Since its launch, the competition has generated over 400 ideas from more than 1,300 participants. Past winners have achieved tangible real-world deployment. Team Remarkably from NUS, the 2025 Grand Prize winner, developed an AI essay-feedback platform now being adapted for regional markets. The 2026 edition coincides with Huawei's 25th anniversary in Singapore.
