7 Universities in Malaysia participated at the Huawei ICT Competition Malaysia 2019-2020 National Final Event[Kuala Lumpur, March 5, 2020] The Huawei ICT Competition 2019 – 2020 has successfully concluded its second annual competition with the theme of “Connection, Glory, Future”. A total of 21 students participated in the Huawei ICT Competition 2019-2020 across seven local participating universities where the regional finals will be held in the Philippines in June 2020.
The Huawei ICT Competition is a recognised platform for students to demonstrate and showcase their skills and abilities in the area of information and communications technology. As part of the Huawei ICT Academy initiative, the competition aims to address the skills gap between requirements of the industry by partnering with local universities to nurture and produce well-rounded individuals whom are industry ready, especially in this age of digitalisation. The various categories in the competition are designed to challenge students' ability to apply cutting-edge technologies, such as big data and AI to real world situations.

The participating students were from the Taylor’s University, University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), University of Malaya (UM), University of Science, Malaysia (USM), University Putra Malaysia (UPM), University Technology PETRONAS (UTP), and University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
