In 2002, the U.S.-based Electric Power Research Institute proposed a research project titled IntelliGrid to focus on the integration of electricity and communications systems. Eighteen months later, the project was officially named IntelliGrid Architecture and the world's first smart grid architecture was established. Over the last decade, smart grid pioneers have highlighted the importance of innovative smart grid architecture and the electric power industry has experienced dramatic changes in the transmission, distribution, marketing, and consumption of electricity. Only twelve years after the concept was first introduced to the world, the smart grid is now shaping the technical and management transformation of the global electric power industry with endorsement from utility companies of almost every country in the world.
Located in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Newcastle University was established in 1834. Southern Cross University (SCU) is an Australian public university committed to innovative teaching and research. Peking University selected the Huawei USG9560 firewall to protect more than 90,000 network computers used by 30,000 concurrent online users to securely access the large-scale public network and manage egress policies with a stable structure
PCSS (Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center) is one of Poland’s five largest national scientific research and education data centers. Huawei helped PCSS build a HPC cluster with a 1.37 PFLOPS computing performance, ranked 80th in the latest global Top500 HPC clusters. PCSS is now Poland’s second largest supercomputing center.
With Huawei’s help, Ethiopia’s SchoolNet project successfully deployed 5,200 virtual desktops in 65 schools. Huawei’s desktop cloud solution features agility and high efficiency, security and reliability, and optimal user experience.
