Huawei Achieves Top Ranking in GlobalData Vendor LTE Product Assessment for H2 2019

Dec 25, 2019

[Shenzhen, China, December 25, 2019] GlobalData, a world-renowned data analytics and consulting company for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, has published the latest assessment report on LTE product competitiveness for the second half of 2019. According to the report, LTE RAN Competitive Landscape Assessment, Huawei is the only vendor to achieve a rating of Leader across all four criteria categories: radio portfolio, baseband capacity, deployment flexibility, and technology evolution. Huawei's LTE RAN portfolio is a clear market leader among major global mobile equipment vendors, and this is the second time in two years that Huawei has achieved the Leader rating.

In terms of radio portfolio, after taking the lead with the launch of its dual-band FDD Massive MIMO product, Huawei has achieved scaled commercial deployment in Thailand. Huawei's full-band TDD Massive MIMO products have also achieved large-scale commercial adoption in more than 50 countries, and all support smooth evolution to 5G NR. In the nTnR domain, Huawei boasts highly cost-efficient FDD 8T8R RRU models and high-power TDD 8T8R RRU models, with smooth evolution to 5G NR supported across such models. To help operators address low-band network congestion for cell-edge users, Huawei has also taken the lead to release 4T4R RRU products, which integrate three low bands and are able to balance network capacity and coverage performance.

GlobalData's H2 2019 report highlights Huawei's range of 150 LTE RU products, including 50 AAUs and 22 multi-band RRUs. This breadth of options enables Huawei to help operators achieve LTE coverage on up to 40 bands, specifications not supported yet by any other vendor. Huawei's radio portfolio leads the LTE market in terms of product variety, integration, and commercial performance, enabling operators to meet a diverse spectrum of needs across the global market.

Regarding baseband capacity, Huawei's BBU5900 supports the largest number of per-liter LTE carriers according to GlobalData's H2 2019 report. Such high capacity places global operators in a strong position to protect investment while addressing soaring data traffic growth well into the future.

Huawei also offers solutions geared toward deployment flexibility. In the pole product domain, Huawei has developed a new series of Book RRU and Easy Macro products that support multiple bands and 4T (or even 8T), compared to the single-band and 2T capabilities of older products. In urban hotspots where site space is often extremely limited, these solutions will be extremely beneficial to operators seeking to eliminate coverage holes and expand their network capacity, so as to deliver the various service experiences demanded by mobile users.

Huawei's Super BladeSite solution features a modular, componentized design to support full outdoor deployment in places such as rooftops and poles, while also eliminating the need for equipment rooms and cabinets. Operators will be empowered with a unique asset to enable simplified site deployment in the 5G era, reducing the amount of sites and site space required.

From the perspective of technology evolution, with the growing expectations of LTE and NR becoming the target networks in the 5G era, Huawei has focused on enhancing a number of innovative solutions, including CloudAIR, SuperBAND, and LTE and NR coordination. These will play an essential role in helping global operators refarm 2G and 3G spectrum resources, improve spectral efficiency, and slash O&M costs while also delivering on the promises of 5G solutions.

As networks continue to advance and we move towards an intelligent, fully connected world, Huawei will continue to deliver innovative LTE solutions and collaborate with global operators to construct future-oriented LTE basic networks that ensure high cost efficiency, excellent experiences, and universal access to voice, data, and Internet of Things (IoT) services for all.
