It’s our pleasure to invite you to the fourth European Huawei Innovation Day scheduled to be held on June 14 & 15, 2016 in Paris, France.

This is our flagship event series that focuses on global innovation and open partnership, considered as one of the most important industry events organized by Huawei in Europe for 2016.

Mr. William Xu, Executive Director, President of Strategy & Marketing Department, Huawei, will be attending the event, together with many government officials, leading industry players, key opinion leaders, senior academic figures and other Huawei senior executives.

This year’s European Huawei Innovation Day will be themed the Beauty of Tech – exploring how technology can make our world a better place to be. Topics such as: the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G, Internet of Vehicles (IoV), Role of Algorithms in ICT, and more, will be discussed at the event.



  • William Xu

    Executive Director of the Board,Chief Strategy Marketing Officer, Huawei


    Mr. William (Wenwei) Xu is Executive Director of the Board of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and has served as Chief Strategy Marketing Officer since 2013. Mr. Xu has held several senior positions at Huawei throughout his tenure with the company for the past 25 years.

    In 2011, Mr. Xu was appointed as CEO of the Huawei Enterprise Business Group. Prior to this, he served as President of the Joint Committee of Regions and as Chief Sales & Service Officer; in this position he took a lead on the market development and implementation for Huawei products and solutions in more than 100 countries around the world.

    In 2008, Mr. Xu held the position of Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer, and prior to this, he was appointed as President of Huawei Europe in 2005. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Xu was President of the International Technical Sales & Marketing Department, taking overall responsibility for global product marketing.

    Mr. Xu joined Huawei’s Research & Development Department in 1991 as a Project Manager where he was responsible for the development of switches in the early years of the company. A natural innovator, he quickly progressed to lead on multiple areas of the company’s R&D capabilities, including wireless products, chipset design, general technology, and strategic planning. As a result of this successful leadership, in 2002 Mr. Xu became Head of R&D.

    Mr. Xu holds a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Southeast University in Nanjing, China.

  • Thierry Mandon

    Minister in charge of Higher Education and Academic Research,France


    Mr. Thierry Mandon is France’s Secretary of Higher Education and Research. In this governmental role he has overall responsibility for driving France’s innovation agenda, supporting R&D, and laboratory research in tertiary institutes. Prior to this role, he was Secretary of State for Reform and Simplification from 2014 to 2015.

    Mr. Mandon joined the Assemblée Nationale, France as its youngest member in 1988 and held this role until 1993. He was then appointed to the General Counsel of the Essonne from 1994 to 2012, and later became Deputy of the 9th District of Essonne from 2012 to 2014. He also served as Mayor of Ris-Orangis from 1995 to 2012.

    Mr. Mandon is proficient in developing business strategy and in management of human resources. He is well-known for his efforts on improving the relationships between the French public authorities and the business sectors.

    Mr. Mandon holds Bachelor degree of Sociology and Law from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences Po).

  • Eric Verniaut

    Senior Vice President, Industries EMEA, SAP


    Mr. Eric Verniaut is Senior Vice President of Industries EMEA at SAP, leading the EMEA Industry Organization covering Strategic, Core Industries and IVE with the goal to accelerate on premise and Cloud growth, leveraging the innovation portfolio for greater differentiation.

    Prior to this role, Mr. Verniaut was Head of Innovation Sales for the EMEA region with the focus to strengthen the adoption of innovation leveraging the HANA Real Time Data platform to help customers capitalize on the Big Data and IoT trends. He was also Global Services COO leading North America Services Organization during the transition to Cloud deployment models. He joined SAP in 2011 to lead the newly created “Next Generation Services organization” designed to bolster customer adoption and success with new SAP offerings, with the responsibility to introduce innovative professional services and to rapidly scale them.

    Prior to joining SAP, Mr. Verniaut worked in Lawson Software in Saint Paul, Minnesota from 2008 to 2011. He was first as global EVP for Services and then became EVP M3 Industries responsible for Sales and Services on a global basis. During his tenure at Lawson Software the market cap of the company almost quadrupled before the company was sold to Infor in 2011.

    Mr. Verniaut started his career at IBM Germany in 1992 as a Consultant and Project Manager. He then spent 14 years at gedas, the IT-services and consulting company of the Volkswagen Group where he held the role of CEO of gedas North America and Chairman of the Americas Region. After the M&A with T-Systems, he became T-Systems Leader for the Americas Region.

    Mr. Verniaut holds an MBA degree from University of Cambridge and a Bachelor’s degree from INSEEC.

  • Zhu Peiying

    Huawei Fellow, Chief Expert of Huawei Communications ,Technologies Lab


    Dr. Peiying Zhu is a Huawei Fellow with over 20 years’ of experience in telecommunications industry.

    The focus of her research is advanced wireless access technologies for LTE/LTE-A and beyond. She is currently leading 5G wireless system research in Huawei and was a key contributor to the development of 3G & 4G technologies.

    Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Dr. Zhu served as the first female Nortel Fellow and Director of Advanced Wireless Access Technology in the Nortel Wireless Technology Lab, where she led the team and pioneered research and prototyping on MIMO-OFDM and Multi-hop relay. Many of these technologies have been adopted into WiMAX /LTE standards and 4G products. Dr. Zhu has more than 150 granted patents in those areas. She was also actively involved in IEEE 802 and 3GPP LTE standards development.

    Dr. Zhu is currently Treasurer and Board member of WiFi Alliance.

  • Nicolas Bry

    Innovation Senior Vice President , Orange Vallée ,Orange Group


    Mr. Nicolas Bry is Innovation Senior Vice President at Orange Vallée within the Innovation Division of the Orange Group.

    Innovator, forward thinker and hands-on project leader, Mr. Bry sets up and leads innovation centers and creative business units. He leads crowdsourcing platform, Imagine With Orange (, and was instrumental in structuring Rapid Innovation Framework (, a leading innovation management blog.

    Prolific in technology related social media (Tweeting as @nicobry), Mr. Bry is fully connected to start-up ecosystems whereby he mentors entrepreneurs, and speaks on innovation related topics.

    Mr. Bry graduated from Engineering School Supélec and further completed a professional thesis on "rapid innovation" at HEC Business School in 2010.

  • Mathieu Lehanneur

    Chief Designer, Huawei Aesthetics Research Centre


    Mr. Mathieu Lehanneur is the Chief Designer of Huawei’s Aesthetics Research Centre, responsible for managing the design team to work towards unifying the brands’ various product lines and store interiors.

    Mr. Lehanneur was named as one of the world’s top 100 designers and influencers, with his innovative objects and architecture combining design, technology, science and art. He focuses on designs that contribute to the senses and wellbeing of human beings. Within this context, air, water, sound and light are his inspirations and form the basis of his work.

    Mr. Lehanneur was invited to lecture at TED Conference programmes in 2009 and 2012 to share his science-inspired thoughts and designs.

    Born in Paris, Mr. Lehanneur holds a degree in Design at ENSCI-Les Ateliers / Ecole Nationale Superieure de Creation Industrielle.

  • Walter Ji

    President of Huawei Device, West Europe


    Mr. Walter Ji is President of Huawei's Consumer Business Group for the Western European Region. He is responsible for the Consumer Business Group’s strategy, as well as driving business development in the region, with a particular focus on sales and marketing.

    In 2015, Mr. Ji was appointed Vice President of Western Europe, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., as well as President of the Carrier Network Business Group in Western Europe to oversee growth in the region. Following the success of this position, Mr. Ji quickly progressed to overall leadership of the Consumer Business Group in 2016.

    From a background of leadership positions, in 2010 Mr. Ji was appointed CEO, Huawei Technologies Spain and Portugal, demonstrating his commitment towards the development of the Company in both markets. Since joining this position, the company has enjoyed several achievements, such as the commercialization of Android-based smartphones in the Spanish market, and the creation of the Network Operation Center giving service to Jazztel and ONO.

    Mr. Ji began his career at Huawei in the company’s R&D department in 2001. He later moved on to become Sales Manager before he was appointed as CEO, Huawei Nigeria in 2007.

    Mr. Ji holds a degree in Computing.

  • Jerome Auzanneau

    Executive Officer & Chief Marketing Officer, France, Managing Director, Scandinavia, Leica Camera AG


    Mr. Jerome Auzanneau is Executive Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, France, and Managing Director, Scandinavia at Leica Camera AG. In this senior leadership position, he is responsible for overseeing all sales and business operations for Leica Camera in Europe.

    Prior to joining Leica Camera, from 2008 to 2015, Mr. Auzanneau was Associate Professor at ESSEC Business School, he was also concurrently Academic Director of the Porsche Dealer Academy Program at the Executive Education Department. During that period, Mr. Auzanneau also founded a consulting firm JA + MADE IN FRANCE + CONSEIL, providing consulting and executive training services on ‘customer-centric’ transition management.

    From 1998 to 2008, Mr. Auzanneau worked in Audemars Piguet in Switzerland, where he held several key leadership positions in the company. He was appointed as Director of Europe in 2006, and was member of the Executive Strategic Committee. In 2002, he was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer of Audemars Piguet France. From 1998 to 2001, he was Marketing and Sales Executive for Europe, Middle-East and Africa.

    Prior to joining Audemars Piguet, Mr. Auzanneau worked in Rolls-Royce & Bentley Motor Cars in the United Kingdom from 1995 to 1998 as Marketing Manager and Customer Service Manager for Southern Europe.

    Mr. Auzanneau holds an MBA degree in International Luxury Brand Management from ESSEC Business School. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from University of Paris Sorbonne and conducted postgraduate study in Corporate Finance in the university.

  • Maryline Fiaschi

    Director of Science|Business


    Ms. Maryline Fiaschi is Director at Science|Business, responsible for managing the Science|Business network of leading research institutions that form part of The ACES - Academic Enterprise Award and EU-funded projects.

    Prior to this role, in 2007 Ms. Fiaschi worked within the media in Shanghai, where she served as Business Development Director at Shanghai Daily, the leading English-language newspaper in China.

    From 2009 to 2011, Ms. Fiaschi managed corporate partnerships at in Brussels. From 2001 to 2006, Ms. Fiaschi worked for DG Education & Culture, European Commission, managing various actions of the Socrates/Lifelong learning programmes, including Erasmus networks and Languages. Today she is an external evaluator for EC’s university-industry cooperation programmes and the EIT.

    Ms. Fiaschi holds degrees from Université La Sorbonne, Università di Bologna and Université catholique de Louvain.
