Huawei Premium Private Line Solution Helps Operators Grow in Enterprise Private Line Market

Nov 30, 2020

[Shenzhen, China, November 30, 2020] At the Huawei Optical Innovation Forum 2020 held on November 30, 2020, Simon Lu, President of Huawei's Transmission Network Product Line, officially unveiled new premium private line solution and an array of innovative products, including optical virtual private network, Liquid OTN, and iMaster NCE. These will help operators explore the enterprise market.

The digital economy is sweeping the world, where digital technology is already penetrating many industries and driving them towards intelligence and cloudification. In 2018, Huawei launched the industry's first OTN-based premium private line solution – under the guidance of Next-Generation Optical Transport Network Forum (NGOF) – that features physical isolation, high availability, assured low latency and jitter, service agility, and self-service management online. Currently, Huawei has helped global operators build more than 70 OTN premium private line networks.

Despite this success, enterprises are raising their network demands and seek to carry production services over networks. Such enterprises require high-quality cloud access, industry private networks, open bandwidth granularity access, and diversified value-added services. This in turn pushes operators to upgrade their networks in order to remain competitive, and one of the initial measures taken by Huawei was to upgrade its OTN premium private line to new stage.

Breaking service boundaries with private network and cloud-network synergy: Huawei's sliced optical virtual private network (OVPN) solution can implement hard isolation at wavelength, sub-wavelength, and OSU levels to offer greater flexibility and transform private lines to private networks.

Breaking user boundaries with Liquid OTN: In the early days of private lines, operators only provided private lines to high-value companies with high bandwidth requirements. Huawei launched Liquid OTN to reduce bandwidth granularity from 1 Gbit/s to 2 Mbit/s, making private lines more affordable for small businesses, and supporting 100-fold connections.

Breaking experience boundaries with end-to-end (E2E) automation: Huawei's AI-based iMaster NCE implements centralized network management and control, monitors networks in real time, and supports E2E automation of service provisioning and network O&M. Private lines can therefore be provisioned in days, and a self-service portal is available for enterprises to subscribe to, check SLA performance, and upgrade their bandwidth online.

Breaking business boundaries with differentiated services: It will provide differentiated value-added services to offer more options for increasing revenue. OTN private lines can guarantee millisecond-level E2E latency, and iMaster NCE visualizes latency in real time. These enable differentiated low-latency services, which are highly recognized by financial organizations and over-the-top (OTT) providers. Meanwhile, the availability of OTN private lines can be accurately calculated based on the quick automatic protection and recovery capability of ASON, as well as network health status, enabling differentiated availability levels for different industries.

Simon Lu said, "For enterprise customers, experience is everything. Huawei's premium private line solution aims to provide high-quality private line, private network, and cloud access services for enterprise customers. This creates opportunities for operators to flourish."

Network infrastructure is a vital part of our lives, and Huawei remains committed to building ubiquitous premium optical connectivity for enterprise customers to facilitate their transformation and boost the digital economy.
