Education is the cornerstone of national strategy and social development. Digital and intelligent transformation in education extends beyond improving knowledge delivery to addressing profound issues like educational equity, personalized learning, and fostering innovative talent. Highly digitalized teaching processes now stand as the most essential aspect of digital and intelligent transformation in education. Schools generate vast amounts of data every day, including video recordings of classroom interactions, student learning trajectories, personalized assignments, and learning assessments. Efficiently storing, cleaning, and mining this data is the primary technical challenge facing educational institutions. The growing demand for data processing is driving the comprehensive upgrade of underlying information infrastructure.
Forward-looking industry research supports the strong link between demand from the application layer and the computing power layer. According to the Striding Towards the Intelligent World white paper series and the Intelligent World 2035 report, by 2035, computing power demand will increase 100,000-fold, AI-dedicated storage capacity will surge 500-fold, and global communication connections will rise 100-fold. For the education sector, this means future smart education will be highly data- and computing-intensive. Applications like virtual reality (VR) teaching, holographic interactive classrooms, and real-time multimodal learning analysis will all require high network bandwidth, low latency, and robust edge computing and cloud architecture. It is against this backdrop of deep integration between computing power networks and educational needs that carriers have identified a solid entry point for expanding their B2B services.
Building a future-oriented smart education ecosystem
Facing this industry transformation, Beijing ULearning Education Technology Co., Ltd. has paired its extensive experience in education with Huawei's next-generation ICT infrastructure to create an intelligent foundation. Together, ULearning and Huawei have developed the AI Enablement and Teaching Solution (Figure 1) for the smart education sector. This solution provides a comprehensive ICT foundation, spanning from underlying computing power to upper-layer applications.
By integrating ULearning's experience in education with AI technology, the solution creates a future learning space for the intelligent world. It delivers high-quality connectivity to educational institutions, and provides scenario-based AI applications to realize personalized, interactive, and data-driven teaching. Through strategic collaboration, ULearning and Huawei are helping educational institutions effectively address transformation pain points. They are also bringing new business growth to carriers in the education sector, and setting a valuable benchmark for the intelligent upgrade of the global B2B market.

Revolutionize teaching with AI agents
General-purpose foundation models are advancing from simple dialogue generation to agentic AI capable of perceiving, remembering, planning, and executing. In education, while these models excel in terms of general understanding, they often lack subject-specific knowledge and local student data. This is the primary challenge currently preventing AI from penetrating the core of teaching.
To this end, the AI Enablement and Teaching Solution equips schools with the software and hardware needed for the classrooms of the future. It also introduces AI training kits and AI general education courses to enhance AI skills. By leveraging school-based data, the solution builds a course retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) knowledge base to minimize model hallucinations and deliver precise subject-specific Q&A. This knowledge base can be further fine-tuned or enhanced for specific teaching scenarios.
Carriers and Huawei lay the digital groundwork for the intelligent world, while industry partners drive innovation by tackling business challenges head-on. In the partner + Huawei system, Huawei has introduced smart screens and the computing foundation powered by Kunpeng, HarmonyOS, and Ascend. ULearning complements this with comprehensive software solutions designed for interactive teaching, drawing upon its self-developed smart interactive teaching systems and deep expertise in digital content operations. Together, the two parties bridge the gap between hardware and software, completely transforming IT infrastructure. Their jointly created Ascend smart teaching appliance meets online and offline education and management requirements in one place. In addition, it harnesses AI for lesson planning, knowledge graph generation, smart curriculum design, personalized learning, and refined teaching assessment.
In-depth enablement and implementation of teaching scenarios
ULearning has teamed up with Huawei to roll out numerous benchmark smart education projects around the world. In international markets, the two companies expanded their presence in the digital and intelligent education sector through partnerships with multiple carriers. For instance, they have worked with Ethio Telecom to bring the smart teaching platform to schools and educational institutions in Ethiopia, making it available to teachers and students on a subscription basis. Collaborating with Omantel, the companies have also implemented smart classroom initiatives in primary and secondary schools across Oman, driving the adoption of smart education nationwide. Furthermore, by integrating AI throughout the teaching process, they have transformed traditional classrooms into dynamic, interactive environments. These efforts have not only proven the technical viability of AI-powered smart teaching solutions, but showcased the real-world value of the solutions in diverse and complex settings.
In March 2025, the Miaomiao agent, a smart teaching assistant developed by the two parties for Zhejiang Shuren University, was showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) in Barcelona as a benchmark of AI + education, demonstrating China's exploration of digital and intelligent education transformation. Based on the Ascend computing power foundation, the Miaomiao agent has completely restructured the traditional teaching method. By building 3D scenario models, it has created a brand-new teaching ecosystem, the core value of which is detailed below.
- One course, one knowledge base: The system automatically aggregates video recordings and teacher-student interaction data from multiple campuses via the carrier's private line. Using the foundation model, it generates knowledge points to dynamically update knowledge graphs and knowledge bases on all subjects.
- One course, one agent: The system generates a dedicated AI teaching assistant for each course, drawing from a specialized knowledge base. With a deep understanding of the content, the assistant can accurately answer subject-specific questions, predict learning bottlenecks according to historical data, and offer personalized guidance and learning paths. The agent has already been integrated into virtual training scenarios, evolving toward one course with multiple agents.
- One teacher, one space: Each teacher has a dedicated digital twin workspace, housing their teaching habits, evaluation models, and personal knowledge bases. This allows teachers to integrate AI capabilities into their workflows.
The Miaomiao agent integrates underlying computing power, middle-layer platforms, and upper-layer applications for coordinated development. Meanwhile, its open architecture enables flexible switching between cloud (carrier computing power) and local (private computing power) deployments, ensuring the absolute security of core teaching data. Moreover, the system's strong compatibility with existing equipment facilitate seamless integration with legacy hardware, avoiding redundant investment and significantly lowering the barrier to digital and intelligent transformation within education.
In primary and secondary education, ULearning, alongside Huawei and local carriers, responded to the Hong Kong SAR Government's AI for Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Program by providing the AI Enablement and Teaching Solution for Pui Kiu Middle School in Hong Kong. This solution utilizes the carrier's network and computing resources to enable teachers to prepare lessons, interact with students, automatically evaluate homework, and recommend personalized resources and learning paths. The project was showcased globally at MWC 2026.
Expanding the new market of AI-driven education
The aforementioned successful business practices clearly demonstrate the potential of AI-empowered education as it paves the way for carriers to achieve new growth in the B2B field. It is allowing carriers to transform from one-time project integrators into digital and intelligent service providers, supporting customers throughout the entire lifecycle.
- For governments and education authorities (government-facing scenarios), carriers provide regional data governance centers and computing power coordination platforms, securing large-scale government procurements and long-term service contracts. These centers and platforms serve as the core foundation of digital and intelligent education in cities.
