In 2012, Huawei launched the two-week Seeds for the Future program in Russia, which benefited 9 students from the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics. In 2014, 10 students from Tomsk State University and Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics attended this program, and during a visit to Huawei, the deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation met with Russian students who were studying at Huawei. During his visit, the Deputy Minister encouraged the students to broaden their horizons by immersing themselves in Huawei's international environment and leading labs.

In 2015, there were 25 students from more than 5 universities in this program, including the top economic school, the Higher School of Economics; one of the oldest Russian universities, Tomsk State University; and the new technical university, Innopolis. Among them there were also students selected from top ICT competition winners. At the launch ceremony, the Minister of Telecom and Mass Communications said “Huawei is an amazing company - it’s not only the leader of ICT, but also a model of corporate education contributions to Russia. I hope you enjoy your trip in China!”
