Huawei has in 2014 entered into a five-year cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and two universities – Aalborg University (AAU) and Technical University of Denmark (DTU) – regarding the Seeds for the Future program. This cooperation was announced during the Danish State Visit to China in 2014, where the former Danish Minister of Education and Science, Ms. Sofie Carsten Nielsen participated. The Minister thanked Huawei on a press conference held in Beijing:”It is with great pleasure that I present this cooperation between Huawei and two of Denmark’s leading universities to send 50 Danish telecoms students to China over the next five years. I know that Huawei is a leader when it comes to innovation and technology, and I would like to thank them for their help to create stronger ties between Denmark and China also when it comes to education.”

Furthermore, during the political festival “The People’s Meeting” in June 2016, the former Minister of Higher Education & Science, Ms. Ulla Tørnæs, participated in a Huawei-hosted event, where she for 45 minutes debated with the MD of Huawei Denmark and a former Seeds for the Future-student about China & innovation, what Denmark can learn from China and how Huawei’s Seeds for the Future-program brings important know-how to Danish ICT students. The Minister said: Huawei could have chosen many countries to work in, but have chosen Denmark – I am proud of that.

Huawei will over the five-year period select up to 50 young ICT-talents for a two-week summer course in Beijing and Shenzhen, where they will learn about Chinese culture, language, and business environment, and receive training in ICT disciplines. In 2017, the fourth group of 10 students will leave for China.
