Huawei launched the Seeds for the Future program in 2015 in cooperation with Brazilian Ministry of Education as part of Brazil´s Federal Government key project “Science without Boarder” benefiting 15 science and engineering students from several top Brazilian universities. 

In 2016, Huawei expanded the cooperation with the Ministry of Education to grant no only young talents of “Science without Boarder” but additional four leading ICT universities in the country totaling 20 students. The new partners were University of Sao Paulo (USP), Instituto Nacional de Telecomunicações (Inatel), Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG) and Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). 

The 2016 Seeds for the Future ceremony gathered over 100 stakeholders including high-level government officials from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications, as well as local Telecom regulator Anatel, carrier customers, heads of the universities integrating Seeds for the Future, enterprise partners, think tanks, industry associations and media. At the ceremony, Huawei signed a strategic cooperation with Brazil´s Ministry of Education aimed to improve schools connectivity and cultivate local ICT talents.
