2017.04.12

Huawei scores two-year deal to leverage Rogers assets in new brand campaign to support launch of Huawei P10 and Rogers-exclusive P10 Plus smartphones

TORONTO, April 12, 2017 /CNW/ - As hockey fans across Canada get ready for one of the most exciting playoff seasons in years, Huawei Canada is announcing a new agreement with Rogers that will see Huawei present Hockey Central pre-game show broadcasts on Sportsnet.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Huawei as we build our Canadian presence," said Felix Li, President of Huawei Canada Consumer. "We are committed to building our brand in Canada and look forward to bringing our new smartphones, the P10 Plus and P10, to the Canadian market."

"Rogers has a long-standing commitment to connecting fans to their passion for sports so they can experience the games they love in innovative ways," said Anthony Attard, VP of Sales, Sportsnet, Rogers. "This is shaping up to be an historic playoffs season, and we're excited to introduce their devices to Canadian sports fans."

Earlier this year, Huawei announced that Rogers will be the exclusive distributor of the P10 Plus. The HUAWEI P series has built a reputation for performance and battery innovation, while developing an unrivalled partnership with legendary camera company Leica, to lead the smartphone industry in camera design. With three Leica cameras, including a 20 MP monochrome portrait camera, the P10 and P10 Plus are the premier phones for shooting and scoring incredible pictures. Coupled with Huawei's industry leading battery and super-charge technology, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are built for those capturing all the excitement of a long playoff run, or the big tournament.

"We are proud to be working with Rogers and leveraging their suite of Rogers media properties, to build awareness of these great new phones with hockey fans from coast to coast," said Li.

The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus (exclusive to Rogers) will be available in Canada the first week of June.
