Technology competitions: Helping young people explore cutting-edge technologies and develop advanced skills through hands-on practice

Technology competitions act as incubators where enterprises, schools, and wider society can collaborate to nurture future digital talent. Such competitions give young people the opportunity to deal with real-world industry challenges and explore the latest cutting-edge technologies. Huawei has been a steadfast supporter of fundamental academic competitions like the ICPC, the International Mathematics Contest (IMC), the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). We continue to deepen collaboration with competition organizations around the world. Our aim is to push the frontiers of technology by providing opportunities for young ICT talent to upskill with real-world challenges.

In 2025, over 100,000 technology enthusiasts worldwide participated in Huawei's competitions such as the ICPC Challenge powered by Huawei, the Tech Arena series, and the Huawei Online Hackathon, which provided over 150 real-world challenges and technical sharing opportunities in fields like software algorithms and mathematical modeling. In November 2025, top minds from more than 30 countries and regions gathered at Huawei's Lianqiu Lake campus in Shanghai for the ICPC Challenge Championship powered by Huawei. The event featured a forum on memory management for large language models and a challenge roadshow, which gave young people hands-on opportunities to explore innovations in underlying algorithms.

Huawei also organized over 40 thematic seminars and 50 academic competitions centered on fields like AI, computing power, and operators. These initiatives attracted over 10,000 participants from more than 500 universities in 36 countries and regions to tackle real-world challenges, stimulate forward-looking discussions, and help cultivate talent for the intelligent era.

The 49th ICPC World Finals was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, where 140 teams from more than 50 countries competed for the top prize
