Optical Fiber Expansion and 5G – Impulses Presented at Digital Summit 2017

The project group “Convergent Networks as Infrastructure for the Gigabit Society” jointly led by Deutsche Telekom and Huawei presents in a white paper how the optical fiber expansion in the fixed line network favors the implementation of 5G. It also describes the complementary correlations that exist. In addition, the paper establishes starting points for how synergies can be utilized for the optical fiber expansion. The white paper was released in the scope of the Digital Summit 2017 as the central platform of the economy, society and political sphere for shaping the digital transformation in Germany.
