Huawei Leads on Safety Management

Huawei is Awarded the Prestigious IS045001 Occupational Health And Safety Management System Certification

[Sydney, May 6, 2019] Huawei is the first company in the Australian telecom sector to be awarded the prestigious IS045001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certification. The ISO 45001 certificate is the world’s first International Standard for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S). It provides a framework to increase safety, reduce workplace risks and enhance health and well-being at work, enabling an organization to proactively improve its OH&S performance.

Kurt Bartlett from Huawei Australia’s Environment Health & Safety (EHS) team said:

“This is a great testimony on how Huawei values the safety and protection of its most important asset, our staff. We have not only achieved an Australian first but also we are the first country across the 170 countries that Huawei works in globally to achieve this certification. This is a great boost for Huawei Australia, it demonstrates that we are leading the way not only locally but also across Huawei globally.”

“As the largest supplier of Wireless technology in Australia, we have hundreds of workers across the country working on hundreds of different project sites daily. We already have a terrific safety record, but with this certification, we demonstrate that it’s not good enough to rest on your laurels, we are always looking at setting a higher benchmark for us to achieve.”

As the first major telecom provider or company in Australia to achieve this certification, Huawei has set a benchmark for gaining international standards across the local industry, ensuring global best practice and improving OH&S performance in Australia.
