Since its establishment in South Africa in 1999, Huawei has realized steady and remarkable growth to become the country’s leading ICT solutions provider. Huawei employs over 1000 staff members in its South African office, with a localization rate of over 60%. The company serves all of South Africa’s mainstream telecoms operators, provides ICT business solutions to government and enterprises, and has a strong presence in the local consumer market with high quality and affordable smart phones and devices, such as Mate 9 and recently launched P10. As a responsible corporate citizen, Huawei also contributes to the local community, with initiatives like innovation and training centres, SMME incubators, student scholarships and other CSR activities. Our dedication to Building a Better Connected South Africa has led to more that 80% of South African people being connected to communication networks.

Financial Highlights

In 2016, Huawei’s Carrier, Enterprise, and Consumer business groups (BGs) each achieved solid year-on-year growth. Group annual revenue was CNY521.6 billion (US$75.1 billion), an increase of 32% over 2015. Net profits were CNY37.1 billion (US$5.3 billion), an increase of 0.4%.
