STEM* students looking for an exciting career could be heading to China next year as part of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future programme.

This summer, 50 undergraduate students spent four weeks in Beijing and Shenzhen learning more about Chinese culture, getting an introduction to Mandarin and developing their knowledge of the technology sector with Huawei. Now in its tenth year, Huawei has hosted more than 250 students from UK universities on this programme with and applications are now open for the 2020 Seeds for the Future programme.

Huawei Career Day for Seeds Students

For the first time, a Careers Day was held at Huawei’s UK head office in Reading, to launch the 2020 Seeds for the Future programme and to provide the opportunity for 18 of the students who travelled to China earlier this year to explore future tech related jobs at Huawei’s business in the UK.  ‘STEM Skills to STEM Careers’ is geared towards helping students gain the skills needed to make the most of their career and make them aware of the wide range of opportunities available in these industries. This year, Huawei UK has recruited 15 graduates and the enrolment for more in 2020 will continue.

Victor Zhang, Vice President, Huawei Group, said:

“As the world becomes more connected, it is important our young people are joined up and get the chance to see the opportunities available in the exciting industries of the future. These exchanges allow students to build the skills and knowledge needed to help make the most of their career chances.

“We are committed to bringing together different cultures, allowing UK students to sample life and learning in China and helping us to show our business as the best place for talent to work and develop. “
