Huawei considers industry standardization vital to our market access, patent defense, brand image, solution interoperability, R&D efforts, and multilateral cooperation efforts. We are always looking to build a healthy ecosystem, better explore the market with peers, and contribute to domestic and international standards organizations.
Huawei has established group-level organizations specialized in industrial standard R&D, supplemented by units focused on standards in each business group. With a team of over 400 experts, Huawei has been making continual progress in high-level R&D efforts in this area.
By the end of 2012, Huawei had joined 150 domestic and international industry standards bodies, including the 3GPP, IETF, IEEE, ITU, BBF, ETSI, ATIS, TMF, WFA, CCSA and OMA, occupying 180 leadership positions, including chairpersons of the ETSI, ATIS, IEEE, OMA, CCSA, WFA, WiGig and OASIS. In 2012, Huawei submitted more than 5,000 international standard proposals.
