Huawei Watch hits UK stores

Available from exclusive retailers including vMall,Selfridges and Google Store

[London, 4 November, 2015] Huawei Consumer Business Group (BG) has announced that, from today, customers can buy the stylish Huawei Watch in the UK from vMall, Selfridges and Google Store. The Huawei Watch will subsequently be available from a wider selection of stores from the end of November. The Huawei Watch will be priced between £289-£599, depending on the style.

The UK launch of the Watch was celebrated last night with an exclusive event held at the Mondrian Hotel in London.

The launch party saw fashion vlogger Jim Chapman, Chris Sanderson, Co-Founder at LS:N Global, and Amy Lou, Director, Global Brand Management at Huawei, come together for a lively panel discussion around the future of wearables in UK fashion, hosted by TV presenter and style columnist Darren Kennedy.

To celebrate the union of fashion and technology, embodied by the Huawei Watch, three catwalk shows took place at the event, showcasing the latest in fashion, technology and fitness – three of the main attributes of the Huawei Watch. The Hackney Colliery Band also performed a selection of timeless classics to celebrate the watch launch.

Now on sale, UK consumers can choose from a range of stainless steel and black frames, as well as a choice of 40 bespoke watch face designs. The choice of straps includes black leather, stainless steel mesh, stainless steel links and black plated stainless steel links. Each strap is easy to change, fitting any face with an 18mm width lug interface.

The Huawei Watch Classic black leather almond tip, stainless steel link and stainless steel mesh are available within the £289 and £329 price point, while the Huawei Watch Active black leather flat tip and black plated stainless steel link cost between £329 and £369.

Richard Jones, Technology Buyer, Selfridges, said: “At Selfridges, we are dedicated to providing customers with a full range of premium products that help improve every aspect of their lives. Watches are an important part of our jewellery range and adding new premium smartwatches, such as the Huawei Watch, to this offering is the natural next step for us. We are confident that the Huawei Watch, with its premium, classic design, will be a popular item with our customers.”

James Jie, Managing Director of UK&I Consumer BG, said: “The Huawei Watch is the ultimate in smartwatch technology, combining a premium look and feel with smart technology. We are hugely excited to see the Watch go on sale in the UK – another fantastic step for Huawei, offering consumers a clear winner in connected devices within the Android market. We hope that our customers enjoy wearing the Huawei Watch.”

Classic design, smart technology

The Huawei Watch has taken its design and inspiration from traditional wrist watches and equals any premium timepiece. It measures 42mm in diameter, the traditional dimension for wristwatches, and has a fully circular face with its crown located at the two o’clock position.

Crafted using only the most sophisticated materials, the Huawei Watch features a fully circular 1.4-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED display, coated in scratch-proof sapphire crystal, the favoured choice amongst Swiss watch manufacturers. Encased in a cold-forged stainless steel frame, the watch screen boasts a 400 x 400 pixels resolution in 286 ppi at a 10,000:1 high contrast ratio, making it the most vibrant Android Wear smartwatch to date.
