Telefonica is a large multinational telecommunications companies, primarily operating in Europe and Latin America. It is one of the largest fixed-line and mobile telecommunications network companies in the world, 4th in terms of the number of clients, 3rd in total market value. Movistar is a brand of Telefonica in Latin America (LA), with over 80 million mobile subscribers.
Massive capacity SMSC to meet the need of fast service growth
Because of the fast growth of services, Movistar had an urgent need to expand the SMS capacity in 2005. Huawei SMS platform with a massive capacity address the requirements.
To ensure the core scheduling module's message processing capability, the SMS system adopts patented memory database, L2 buffering and peak traffic shifting technologies. In this system, one single SMSC node processes over 3000 messages per second. This greatly improves integration and saves much maintenance resource and equipment space.
Uniform management platform supports different networks
To facilitate multiple network coexistence in LA, Huawei provides a CGT integrated SMSC, which covers multiple networks and enables virtual SMSC features and MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) management. The previous 3 systems are therefore subsumed into a single one that can cover CDMA, GSM and TDMA networks. All of these unify the experience of end-users and help Movistar save much human resource and minimize OPEX.
Quick responding service team helps Movistar improve network quality
In Movistar, every country's network had its own characteristics and complexity, such as 14 ITU and 24 ANSI mixed, broadband and narrowband mixed. Given this situation, Huawei provided golden level service, which responded actively and guaranteed the network quality. It is implemented on the schedule according to the project plan.
